I know this has been discussed but i don't remember anyone mentioning what would happen if the silver coated pips where then painted black. Will they take the paint? Will it ruin the efficiency? The ceramic traps the heat in so I would think painting them would not harm their operation. |

I asked in an earlier thread as to what would happen if you silver ceramic coated the inside of the header, and black ceramic coated the outside of the header. Kind of a best of both worlds approach in my mind; silver inside to reflect the heat, and black outside for the looks. I think it was Al from American Sportbike who said that the silver inside would be soot covered before long, so there would be no advantage to using silver inside; you essentially have an all black pipe. |

I was thinking similar with the paint. I figure good heat protection with the silver but the color I want. I was under the impression the black did not do as good a job as the silver. Soot covered or not it would still protect better not because of the color but the materials used is my thought. I may just try the paint and see worse comes to worse I will have to clean it off. |
