I have just had a rear monoshock suspension made up to fit my ULY by a major UK suspension manufacturer,(they build for road and are renowned for racing) they had my bike in for a week and the result is great, the suspension is still fully adjustable like the standard unit it is generally firmer and seems to handle even better it also great with a pillion.
The main benefit for me is the bike is 50mm lower. so also with the low seat it makes the bike a lot more controllable and enjoyable,
This suspension is now available from the manufacturer on a supply basis in the UK and i'm sure they will send anywhere abroad,
if anybody is interested I will supply further information.

How different is this versus Buying a lightning shock? Or a CG shock?

Sounds cool!

How does it handle in the dirt? That would be the deciding factor for me.

I don't know how the other shocks compare,
but when you order this one its made up for you based on the weights of the rider the pillion and luggage so the adjustments can handle all of these changes, as for off road ability i don't know it might be a bit stiff, 99 percent of my riding is on hard surface.

So, you lower the rear and not the front?

Yes that's right, the front is standard, 50mm lower front springs are available for about $100(not expensive), but I don't feel I need to change them at the moment.

Lowrear how about a link? For the rear and shorter front. I am interested in doing both. I've been kicking around a exhaust idea also that would leave e me an extra 1 to 1.5 inches of ground clearance but I haven't had the time to do any mock ups. A winter project for sure. Anyway that would leave me with almost the same clearance as I have now and lower the bike a win win if I can pull it off. Thanks for any links and info you have on the suspension.

Hi Bertotti, Below is HAGONS Address
(great company), The Buells are not in there currant application list, But the monoshock I have is the one listed as (L)in the application list this is the monoshock that is made up for you to your weight specs, I also had the extra remote adjustable unit fitted this is listed under(PA)in the application list, you could go for the cheaper unit version witch is a per-set unit with no adjuster but this is up to you for further help and information email Hagons they will get back to you with all you need to know.
