Just completed another Iron Butt ride. This one was an in-state Wisconsin 1000. The route started just north of Milwaukee, then towards Green Bay, to Superior, down towards La Crosse, Platteville, Monroe, Kenosha and back to the start. Beautiful scenery throughout most of ride. I did the IBA route that was mostly two lane highways, just a little of I94 Interstate travel. The route planner threw in a couple of twists to mess with the riders. One being the western portion of the route took you through a string of small towns with 25 mph speed limits. Another was 9 Mandatory stops to get receipts. Map Quest estimated travel time to be 21 hrs and 28 minutes. That, of course, assumes no stops and legal speed limits. Some how I managed to do it in 19 hours. My low beam burned out and I ran the night with just Motolights. No big deal. My VISA card was also denied on my 7th stop. Seems that I had to many charges in the same day. Bike ran perfectly as usual. I'm taking off this Friday to Minnesota for the MN 1000. This one is a 1000 mile scavenger hunt. More twisted fun. Bob |

Sounds like you had a nice ride..was this an organized rally or just a route you did on your own? Add another reason for running auxiliary lighting! chopped58 |

You can swap the high beam bulb for the low,They are the same. Having two bulbs will get you home. Even if you just use high beam. Congratulations on the in state 1000. I am going to have to try the MN1k, I have several friends who do it every year. |
