I've had plenty of happy miles on the Uly. Most of them have been on the street and various dirt roads...but nothing like I did this past weekend.

Let's start off with some upgrades. I needed a new master cylinder. My last one snapped off at the base of the brake lever. Not good. So a call to American Sport Bike and a Nissan Radial is on it's way.

Coupled with the Lyndall Gold pads...WOW... now that's how brakes should work! It has to be the easiest master to bleed, EVER. The feel is unmatched, the progressiveness of the power is the best. A great investment.

I also added some bar ends and bar end mirrors. They are Mirrcycle brand MTB mirrors and they work perfect. Smaller than stock, but the view is always clear and never "blurred" like the stockers. A worth while farkle as well.

I've had the PIAA's on for quite some time, but this was my first trip to see what they can do. Canada's back country is DARK. Pitch black is more like it. The PIAA's are great. But the Ulytility bar.... watch it. Mine cracked on both sides due to the weight and vibes of the 510's. A little TIG and it's fine again. The cracks started at the cuts. Just watch out.

So it was Friday night at 5pm. We pull out of North Olmsted, OH and head north on the highway. I prepare myself for 8+ hours of highway headed up to Kamamskeg Lake (Combermere, ON). Here we are ready to go...

After a stop for dinner in Angola off of I-90 in NY, we fly up to the QEW and then the 401. We hit some traffic in Toronto on the 401 and it closed down 3 of the 4 lanes. Not fun...even at 10pm at night. We were doing 1, maybe 3 mph for 3 miles. This was killing our average.

One more gas stop at the 401/115 interchange and let's haul on the back roads. We arrived around 2:30am. Here's what the GPS said about our ride.... Just before Combermere, we stopped at a donut shop in a small town and saw 4 cops inside at 1:30am. Atleas the donuts were safe and I'm thankful the cops were at the donut shop instead of looking for us.

So then... we woke up to this...

and...

Finally after opening up the cabin we wanted to ride. We let good ole Garmin take us where ever. We found some sweet dirt roads and plenty of single track. The Uly did great. I am pissed I didn't get a picture of the single track, but it was muddy, lot's of mud holes, logs, ruts... It was a trail that you stand, work the clutch, the gas and rear brake. In other words... fun as hell. Then it happens... we find a sand pit.

Well...Mr. GS decides to play on the hill. He makes it... My turn...

Front end buries itself into the sand. No terrafirma here...only sand and the Dunslops hated every minute of it. So I figure more speed...But before I did...

Atleast I showed the bike whose boss...

Next try... Made the hill... but the rear spun out, and punted me. All in good fun I say.

Bike took my abuse with nary a niggle. No damage to speak, except a bent bar end bolt. Easy fix.

From here it was time for more sandy roads... The GS, decided to take a nap around a corner. Bent it's crash bar, scrapped the cylinder head and tweaked the bars. Glad the Uly crashes better.... No pics.. as I rounded the corner he picked the bike up... QUICKLY... He has a habit of that... see here at the earlier sand pit...

So after that.. and falling with a 12 pack on the back... (I cried a little but none broke)... we wanted some grub. But first...

On the next road (it was a little rough) we ended up loosing three soldiers... The box broke and they bounced out and I had to play dodge-em. I cried again.

The smell of burning beer on a Titanium pipe...isn't nice smelling.

So off to dinner now at the Wilno Tavern. I guess it is one of the oldest Polish settlements in Canada. So they have plenty of time to perfect their menu. With my Polish heritage, this meal didn't disappoint!

So then after dinner, we headed back home to finish off the Canadian soliders and sit around the camp fire. Some how... I wanted to forget the next days ride of 500+ miles of highway in 90+ F degree heat.

The way home was uneventful. Three stop-n-go sections on the 401 caused a seriously hot ass. The weather was hot and humid. Just what I hate. We left at 11:30ish and I pulled into home at 9:28pm. And that's with a 5 gas stops (even though we didn't need that many), some back roads instead of the highway. We even found a sweet road. It went from two lane paved, to two lane dirt, to one lane dirt to half a lane dirt/sand to logging road then it spit us out on the lake. We drove the road right along the lake. No guard rails, no rocks.. nothing. Just road, cliff then lake. If we met a car... it would have been tight.

All in all.. the Uly was a SUPERB performer. Loaded bags and all. It netted me 52~55 mpg on the way up and 45mpg on the way home (due to a serious head wind). The average moving speed for the trip was 60.5mph and the overall average was 43.7 mph. I couldn't ask for anything else this past weekend... Except for better tires.

Pavlov . . . that name rings a bell.

Look . . . you wanna crash your Buell . . . it's your choice. But if I hear of you wasting one more beer I'm coming to Canadia and kickin' your ass!

: )

Great tale!

I'm done wasting beer. I promise.

One more question... why does Canadian beer taste better up there, then the piss I get here in the States?

Okay, last question...why do the natives drink Budweiser? I mean, we are up there drinking Canadian Blue and the neighbors are rocking out with Bud... Come on...

Nice trip! We'll be heading up to Canada this week. I don't know why Molson tastes better up there. Guinness tastes better in Ireland too. Maybe its because you're on vacation and everything is better.

I found the messenger bag from the demo ride makes a descent cooler in a pinch. Only, it doesn't hold a 12 pack.

That cabbage roll looks good!

You will not be disappointed with Nova Scotia. I've been there before, just in a cage. And I have vowed before the God of Motorcycling to return to that place on my bike. It is that nice, that beautiful and just perfect.
