Active duty Army and love my ULY. I put 22,000 miles on it in 1 year after returning from my 1 year vacation to Iraq. The army has other plans for me this next week PCS!! Any ULY riders in the Huntsville, AL area? Maximum are you Hawk driver or a bus driver? I crewed hawks for a long time. Next year might work for homecoming.

Hey Rotorhead: Yes I fly the Blackhawk. It is a great aircraft; almost as much fun as riding a Uly!

This is what we were doing yesterday.

Air Force stationed at Ramstein Germany, so I obviously won't be making it. However I am tentatively planning a one-way ride from Western Kentucky (home of record) to Alaska (own a home in Eagle River AK) when I retire in a couple years.

Yes...

Not active duty anymore but did fly 64s for eight years and my buddy who is a recently retired Ah-64 SIP may be looking at taking my Uly over when I move to Europe (it's "custom" bike that is badged in honor of my last company in the Army which he happened to be in so we'd be keeping it in the family)

}}...that is if I don't decide to leave it at my dad's house until I can figure out a way to get it over the Norway

I think you'll enjoy the area...not too many twisties but we're not too far from some amazing roads in north GA and NC...

I'll keep an eye out for ya.

Scott

p.s. Maximum, say hey to Troy for me. He taggin' along with you to Homecoming?

Hey Max, what's going on there exactly? Looks like a fun elevator ride, but I imagine there's some tactical value to that lunch pale contraption. Btw, that's some cool ride - I'll drive out your way for a ride on one of those!

Sanjuro: This is called a Heli Basket which is attached to the Blackhawks cargo hook via a 100' cable, and we were conducting this training with the Denver Fire Dept.

The basket can hold about 20 people, and is used to rescue people from the top of tall buildings during emergencies. It is a system that was developed after 9/11.

Thanks for the response Max. I'm getting into R/C choppers myself...and I've only crashed it a dozen times and broke three blades - and no household pets were injured in the process. Yes, I'll be soon ready to fly a Black Hawk - just loan me the keys - will ya?

I am active duty stationed in Belgium so I don't think that I will be there....!!! My Uly and I just returned from a 1700 mile trip to the Alps though!
