This post is basically a thank you to Al Lighton for helping me get my Uly set up like I wanted it. Thanks, Al.

When I was getting ready to set up my Uly, I was very worried about spending the cash for the Micron/American Sport Bike remap/open intake setup. I really wished I had somebody, other than the one selling the products, to tell me that long term usage of the setup would be without problems.

That is the purpose of this post.

For anyone on the fence about whether or not to trust the Micron/American Sport Bike remap/open airbox set up for long term use--WORRY NO MORE.

After 5000 miles on the setup without problems, I could not be happier. The bike retains it's sophisticated (compared to my other bikes) nature, with no driveability issues, but with a better sound, better performance, and better looks. I love it. My personal goal for this bike other than transportation, was to do at least a couple of longer adventure type rides a year, and to hit at least 100K miles before a major rebuild.
I get tired of hearing only Beemer guys talk of their 100K mile bikes.

A few thousand miles after these mods, I feel confident that this could be the setup to achieve my small goal. So, this is how I will leave it. We will see if I can do it.
Here is a pic from the first long ride. This is in the southernmost portion of BigBend Park on the way to the hot springs.

Daayyuum Chadly, thats a sweet lookin and apparently running Uly.

I am glad to hear about the feedback with the software, It will be enough to push me over the edge now.

I see that you elected not to do the ceramic thing with your header. Any regrets with the heat?

Great Pictures, that's awesome!

Chadleys1, what pipe were you using before the Micron, Stock? What were initial impressions of sound, performance and decibels?

Thanks for the comments.

Treadmarks-The heat doesn't bug me, but my streetbikes have been Buells since 1999, so I'm used to it. I just ride with my knees out a couple of inches if it gets hot. I might get the headers coated sometime. I love the headlight on your Uly!!

Maximum- I had the stock pipe which I thought was too quiet, letting me hear more clatter and noise than I wanted. Performance wise, the bike has always been very satisfactory for me.
The Micron system is definitely louder, but not obnoxious, like the Force on my S1's.
The Micron system also has an unusual sound to it that would be hard to describe in words. "Tearing" is a word I have read to describe it, and that seems appropriate to me. I like it, as it sounds unique, and only gets noticeably loud if you are really on the throttle.

hope that helps

Chadley,
Thanks for the good words...Credit where credit is due, Terry Parsley does the mapping work, and he's pretty good at it. For that particular map, I did all the Beta testing/fine tuning on it since it is the one that I run in my own Uly. I'm also am quite pleased with the performance and drivability of the combo, and agree with your assessments of the micron. It just doesn't quite sound like anything else.

Bearly- I lift it the same way I have been lifting my Buells since the 90's, with an engine hoist that I had laying around not getting used very much. hahahaha... I'm serious.

Al - Thanks again. I love it.

Here is a pic, Bearly.

don't use it much

Thanks for the lifting pics Chadleys1, That looks like it works well. I hope you are getting some help from that black lab. I have that same dirt bike stand!
Since you and Al are talking me into that Micron System, I think I'll be doing this a couple of weeks.

Chadleys1: How long did it take you to install your micron system? And which exhaust manifold gasket did you use? Did you run into any unforeseen problems?

Knowing Sir Chadley personally,
I can tell you that's not so much a dog as a child...
A big headed, brut of a child.
