Finally got around to ordering the pics from my last track day. This was the second track day I've done on the Uly.

Never doubt the 500lb beast on the track. It's GREAT fun.

No, the guy behind me was a close friend of the owner of my local Buell dealer, Tom Bumpus. I've done a couple of track days with Tom, and he always has his two Uly riding friends with him. The guy you see behind me went down in a later session, but was ok. It was a slow speed turn. My guess is he lowsided from hitting the front brake while heeled over.

As for how it did compared to the other bikes, well, that's a tricky question. I'll tell you how it did against other riders. I had a great battle with a Gixxer 1000. He would leave me in the straights, and I'd pass him in the turns. Finally, he got tired of being passed by my 500lb bike with a 235lb rider on board and he gunned it going into a chicane. He didn't make the turn and wound up riding though the grass. He didn't go down, but I'm sure it scared the crap out of him.

I passed a lot of sportbikes, but believe me, it wasn't because the Uly was a better bike. It's because their riders were basically "point and shoot" riders. Slow in the turns and wide open in the straights. A lot of folks ride that way at track days. Some guys like the high speed rush, and some (like myself) prefer the cornering forces.

I vote that Chad is immediately disqualified since with those gumby-like limbs, he can drag a knee without leaning the bike.

You should be selling foot pegs. Everyone should have a Uly with roadrash pegs to impress their riding buddies.

Nice pic's Chad. You really need to have someone do some video recording of your next track day. I'd love to see your skills (riding) in action.

I guess all of your custom suspension work really makes a difference, huh?

Those don't look like Uly bars on your bike.

The bike has not been lowered, on the contrary, it's most likely a bit taller due to the Wilbers suspension. I had a custom shock made to hold up my 235lb butt. The bars are not stock, they are Renthal medium rise. Lets me get lower and more forward. I have long arms and felt like, as Fatty would say, I was steering with my nipples when using the stock bars.

I did a big post a few months back about my "Track Day Uly" detailing all my mods.

I have a set of XB12R wheels running wave rotors. They are much lighter than the stock setup. I'd say by a couple of pounds each.

As for my long legs, well, I suppose some might argue that it makes it easier for me to get a knee down, but I say otherwise. Because my legs are longer, my knees end up much higher in the air than most folks. To do any patella puck grinding, I've got to heel over pretty good. : )

Blake...thanks for fixing the link!

Well I'll be damned. I wouldn't have thought it possible to get a knee down on a stock height Uly. Is that the stock 06 seat, too? How tall are you?

It is the stock '06 seat...the best seat ever installed on a motorcycle! : )

I am 6'5" tall with a 36" inseam. I have no trouble reaching the ground on any bike.

Yes there was a black one there...behind me. LOL! : )

The Uly is a good track weapon for me because it's very comfortable. I hear a lot of people say they skip at least one session during a track day because they are tired. I have never had that issue. I run every session I can. : )

Beef up the suspension and the Uly will carve with the best of them.

They don't. I had the full set of luggage, but sold the side cases and mounts to Fatty B. I never used them, but I use the top case quite a bit.
