It sound like you have a real bad one. Too bad your dealer doesn't take care of you better and was closer.
Mine did it seven times in a month, three of those times two up and lucky to live situations, and the dealer said they couldn't find anything.
Then came the help from the BadWebb. We all started having the problem about the same time and through talking it out, we figured out what was causing the issue. At that time we had to convince the dealer of the problem and its resolution, for many of us it worked.
Your gas mileage is not normal. I have run mine at over 90 mph on the interstate for more than 100 miles out of a single tank of gas and averaged 42 mpg. I haven't seen anyone drop below 40 mpg without needing a TPS reset or some other tuning issue. |

I just went out and looked under my seat and confirmed via the Buell website that my 2007 has been recalled for the BAS. Is the basic recall to just relocate the switch? Can dealers do this without additional items from the factory? I'm scheduled for my 1,000 mile service at a dealer that is about 90 minutes away and would love to have them do that while the bike is in the shop.

Iugradmark,
The dealer needs to have a recall kit on-hand with the new brackets and such. Call them first to make sure they have one in stock before you show up. |

Sorry to hear it died so pitifully on your trip. It's a crap shoot. It could die once or none or it could die like it did. Weird that it would die so many times in one block. Mine always died most when I first started the ride or when I got back on after a lengthy break (lunch, dinner, etc.).
I think your solution for replacement is best!  |

It has ONLY happened at highway speeds, at 70 - 80 mph indicated. That fact does make me wonder why it has only been at those times.
When it quit the 4th time in 3 miles on the way back to Florida, especially the 2 times in 30 seconds or so, I thought for sure I was going to be sitting on the side of the road.
Instead, 400 more miles trouble free.   |

Mine only did it when the bike was straight up and down and in "cruise" and only within the first 5-15 miles of a ride. |

You hit it! Carlos is sitting at 20,000 and the BAS never failed nor did the kick stand. Of course, both have been replaced, so we'll see how long they hold out! Must be something about those Sept 05 bikes!

What exactly is the BAS and what is the problem you guys are experiencing? |

BAS = Bank Angle Sensor.
It is a device that is supposed to turn off the engine and fan in case the bike falls over.
I have never experienced the problem, but apparently the way the sensor was mounted on early models, it could become confused and shut off the engine and fan while the bike is still upright. |

New BAS hadn't come in yet, went ahead with another 1500+ mile long weekend anyways.
BAS didn't quit at all this trip, looks like my new switch when it comes in will go in the "carry as a spare" pile now ! 
11 times in 3000 miles then 0 times in 1500 more miles ?  |
