Some of the best things that can happen when you own a Ulysses is to have fellow BadWebbers recommend great places to ride that otherwise would have remained unknown.

This happened to me last week through the BadWebb and I was fortunate enough to have another BadWebber to share it with.

Thank you Bradx9r for informing me about the 'Snake' at the Playground on 421 in Virginia and far East Tennessee. And to Orangulius for sharing a great Saturday 400+ mile ride.

421 is truly an amazing twisted up ribbon of good pavement. It is smooth, wide, well marked, and the corners are all consistently banked so that even without having been there before you can feel confident in what is coming up. I was able to use all of my tires without even sliding off the seat. I dragged a ham footed boot in the process too.

My bike has new Scorpion Syncs at work and as I had read about the Uly a year ago, in its introductory magazine stories, sitting upright on the seat will give you the feeling that you can "lean until your elbows drag". Man what a rush to lean that far without hanging off!

Orangulius impressed me with his improved and more confident riding skills. We ride these kind of trips in full gear and I heard more than once that we looked like "Storm Troopers" as we rode into town on our faster orange bikes.

Oh, and the bikes ran flawlessly from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm, using gas from four different fuel brands. The only glitch in our awesome ride was a staple that put the finishing touch on Orangulius' rear D616. We plugged one side of the staple's holes and had to use slime on the other because the holes were on the same belt threads too close together. Plugged up it made the 200 miles back in good fashion.

My point is get out there and explore those things that people recommend when you can. It seems all the better to have someone to thank than to have just picked a crooked line off a map. Thanks Brad, and thanks Mark.

I second the ride recommendation. We had an awesome time, one of the best rides yet. 421 was an unexpected surprise and it was a perfect day to ride (minus the staple in my tire).

Here is a link to more info an the area and the place where all the bikers gather. http://www.shadyvalleycountrystore.com/

Etennuly and I are thinking about heading back to 421 the weekend of June 23rd. We may stay up there on Saturday to get some more ride time in. Additional riders are welcome so post or PM if you want to join up.

I have a few pics if someone can remind me how to post them.
