While replacing the throttle body intake seals, I noticed an unusual amount of oil build up on the back of the intake valves.

I did a search and read about pre 06 seals leaking on the XB9.

Anyone else have any issues with leaking valve stem seals yet?

Only on Ulys putting out tremendous amounts of heat emanating from the front of the bike.

Sorry not to be any help, I haven't heard of any similar problems (yet).

Are you sure that the oil buildup isn't from the breathers venting into the intake? It would be a drag to change out the valve seals and find out they weren't the problem.

I went ahead and rotated the engine down, pulled the exhaust, heads and cylinders to get a look at what is going on.

Looks like the oil was bypassing the intake valve seals and baking onto the back of the valve. There was considerable gunk/carbon build up on the valve and the top of the piston. You could still see cylinder hone marks in the bores.

Will talk to NRHS or someone today about headwork and a 1250 kit, maybe with cams. Will also talk to Al at American Sport Bike about available maps.
