I note that the standard hand shield things on the Ulysses (I'm sure there's a technical term for such things...) don't really shield my hands from rain much. I was looking at the Touratech extensions - anyone tried them and comment as to whether they're worth it or not?

I've already put in one touratech order for the under-seat bag and some of the wine powder - I could not not order that powder once I'd seen it. I'm sure it'll be dreadful, but I just had to try : )

Several of us have them and I think everyone is happy with them. They really helped in the cold weather too. Someone posted a thread about mounting the screws in reverse or using a rivet for safety reasons.

I have a set on mine. I really haven't ridden without them so I can't compare the difference. The stock shields are fairly narrow so I would imagine the add-ons make a difference. Above all, they look really cool! Check into the kickstand pad from TT. It's very useful if you park in dirt or grass.

That was mine, where the extensions were attached with rivets. Safety had been a concern with others, so I thought that it would be better to use rivets, plus it is a cleaner look too.

I don't know if I quantify what additional protection they provide. My hands do stay dry when riding in rain (as long as I am moving), but more importantly, they look cool!

The Touratech guards also deflect some of the wind blast off your lower arms. And as stated above keep the rain and cold off your mits. Highly recommended!!
