Does any one know here I can get the info for the 07 airbox mod? Where to make the cut outs? I have an 06 Uly. Thanks. David E. |

4" hole saw & a 2" hole saw. Cut in between hold down tabs. Relocate cylinder head vents to puke can. Cover old holes (don't forget). Add race pipe and ecm. Reset TPS. Clear AFV and recalibrate. You now have a new (faster) Uly w/ a "open airbox kit". ps Bring a spare set of under-ware. No joke.. |

David, There is no '07 mod. It is buy the '07 box like a lot of us did or mod your '06 like a bunch did before the '07 came out. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/229880.html?1158854109 |

I just bored seven 1 1/4" holes on the left side and front, blocked right side holes with duct tape to keep it from ingesting hot air that comes up from the heads. Most are just buying the '07 air box lid as it is only about $35. Some bikes have required a re-flash of the ECM from basically any '07 1203 bike. By the way, the duct tape has been on there for 8,000 miles and over seven months and is still stuck like new. |

I didn't cover the hot side holes when I mod'd mine. Runs great. Why cover the holes? |

Covering the right side holes is an attempt at keeping it sucking cooler fresh air from the front air duct. The right side holes allow that hot air to be ingested from the heads on the right side. |

OK, I understand the theory but mine seems to run just great without covering those original holes. I won't argue for or against but mine hasn't been a problem. |

I cut up my 06 box..cut holes with a dremil tool and hole saw, one of the first to do so and I left the right side open...but I put on the 07 box for one reason...while under warranty I don't want to give a dealer an excuse to say I did "an unauthorized modification" and use that as an excuse to void the warranty..The 07 box is much neater looking and is "factory" and for about $37 it is worth that for piece of mind. My dealer will not trade for a bike that has had any engine modifications that are EPA related. |
