I have searched the web with no success and have written to PIAA customer support with no success. I am trying to get the relative weight (or actual) of the PIAA 510, 1400 and 1100X lamps. From the specifications on the PIAA web site it looks to me that the combination of the 1400 and 1100X should be less than or equal to the weight of the 510 lamps. If any of you have any insight, I would really appreciate any information from those of you that have used one of these products. If I get meaningful information, I will post it on KV. I have the ulytility lamp bracket and would like to use both the 1100X (hi beam) and 1400 (low beam) and I know that the 510's have been used successfully on this bracket. TIA, Dennis | ||

Don't know the relative weights but mounting both sets of lights on the bracket would create a heavy wind load in addition to the vibration loads that would occur from the V-twin. If the brackets are made of SS it may be better for the loads encountered | ||

If the fog lamps (1400) are mounted to the top of the bracket they add ~3.25 sq in of frontal area for both lamps over just the bracket. The pair of driving lamps (1100X) add another ~10.9 sq in of frontal area. Where as a pair of 510's add ~30.4 sq in of frontal area. | ||

Sorry I don't have an exact weight, but I remember the 510's feeling like they weighed about a pound each when I was mounted them. | ||

Well I managed to find someone that had both the 510 and 1100X (no 1400 though), and he put them on the scale. Single 510 1.2 lb. and the 1100X would not register. So I asked him to weigh them together and he got 1.6 lb. So the 1100X must be ~0.4 lb. Since he had no 1400, I still don't know the weight, but I can't believe it would be much more that the 1100X. Anyone with the 1400 want to comment? |
