Had some service recently and I had the seat off yesterday and could swear the seat support spacer block on the ECM has been moved by the dealer.

I am taking about the black plastic (Delran?) block that provides some protected space above the ECM so the seat does sit too low and rub the ECM. The ECM is attached by a bolt on each side and one of the bolts also holds this spacer or support block. The block is on the late 06 and 07 Ulys or Ulys with the low seat.

Is your block on the side by the black wire connector or the grey wire connector? I think it could be either but my question is which is best?

It's mounted toward the front of the bike. Not sure which color connector.

Honu and Gotj, mine was mounted to the front (like the picture) until I had recent service. I installed the Uly 07 airbox cover and had a dealership reflash the ECM to the 07 code. I just popped the seat off yesterday and noticed that the dealer had moved the support block to the rear.

This is curious to me as I did not think the ECM would have to be removed to do the reflash but maybe that is the case. At any rate I am now curious if there is some new information available to the dealers that indicates the position should be changed.

Should I move it back or leave it? It would seem that there is a difference between the two positions and how the seat is supported.

Do either of you have an 07 Uly?

Honu, which seat are you using, standard or low? My block doesn't show any wear but I run either the stock 06 or stock 07 seat.

You know, if I had the part number for that piece I could just buy another and mount both and be done with it.

I think it makes the seat more difficult to lock in place when it is mounted in the back. I think that but I have not really tested it.

My late 06 Uly came from the dealer with that support block in the front position. They (dealer) did the BAS recall when they had the bike. I wonder if the BAS recall had something to do with removing the ECM and that is how it got move to the rear position?

I too had the BAS recall done and the spacer came back in the same place where it started, toward the front.

Alchemy, I think you are one generous soul with respect to the tech that worked on your bike. :-)

My '06 had an issue with the '06 low seat. After riding for a while the low seat was rubbing the plug for the ECM. The seat came with one, so I put the extra one on the rear bolt of the ECM. The rubbing stopped.

When the BAS recall was done the ECM is moved for access.

From looking at the wear on the blocks I think the rear position actually supports the seat better and gives a little better protection from the seat base rubbing the ECM plug. But then I have two of them.

Is there a part number for the block. I have the 06 service manual and it does not seem to reference the block.

It does seem that the rear position is a bit higher.

It should have one, but I don't know it. The extra block came in a bag with my '06 low seat. It is the same part that is on the front.

I got the lower seat for my 06. It came with the block. The diagram showed the block to go on the bolt towards the front of the bike. I tried to get the bolt out but the nut was unaccesable under the plastic piece so I put the block on the rear bolt. I needed to sand the block down abit to get the seat to latch. I would still like to know how forlks got to the nut on the bolt holding the front of the ecm down, in case I ever decide to go with the race ecm.

Pso, If you just reach under the bolt and press the nut upwards, it is captured in the plastic housing. Be sure not to drop the nut for it can get lost. I removed the bolt while holding the nut. Then I moved the ECM and reinstalled the bolt to keep the nut from going anywhere.

CAUTION: If you overtighten the bolt, you can turn the nut and deform the plastic that captures the nut and then you're in for more fun, right, Orangulius?

Yipper skipper. Gotj was there when I went to remove it. The plastic underpinnings on the forward bolt were totally shot. Of course I'm not sure it was me because mine came from the factory with a front bolt and spacer and I added the rear one when I got my low seat. Personally I think it is poor design to employ a plastic part to secure a metal nut. If anyone has done the same and has a good replacement idea I would be happy to hear it.

BTW the front spacer isn't going anywhere without the nut on it. It would just be nice to have it secure.

Just got back to the internet.
06 stock Uly with standard seat. BAS recall has been performed. Also that pic was one of several that Buell CS requested while trouble shooting the engine dying problem that turned out to be the BAS recall. They mentioned nothing about moving the block!

The picture was a big help. My 06 Uly came with the block in the front as the picture shows. Who knows if this means anything. I will leave it where it is for now even though it seems to make it harder to snap the seat in place.
