Chopped my pipe up the other day.Was looking for a bit more sound and hopefully no power loss.

Removed the three pipes, fitted a slightly larger centre pipe and a beefy end cap.Fired her up and went for a ride. Not as loud as I expected.Power felt the same but stronger off the bottom.

Also tried it with the cable disconnected and the valve wired open....Nice sound but more vibes and the occassional stutter when high speed cruising.

It was a pretty easy job and I'd like to try it again.I'm guessing a bit with design so If anyones got any ideas feel free to throw em up.

Jack82, is the exhaust valve being used now? Looks like you did a nice job. How many hours did you have into the project? Thanks for posting.

I did something similar, only I removed the interactive valve. And, used a 18" Cheery Bomb glass pack muffler instead of a straight pipe. I also used the stock exhaust finisher, so the muffler appears stock.

All I can say for sure is, the muffler is louder than stock, all the time, but not obnoxiously so.
Butt dyno-wise, it feels like there is a slight flat spot between 3k & 4k rpm range, compared to the stock pipe.

I love this kind of stuff. It makes me wish I knew how to weld.

Tim : It was a lazy days work and much easier than I expected. The bike seems to run smoother with the valve hooked up but does'nt make the sound I'd like. With the valve wired open it sounds NICE.

I plan on running a full tank of gas with both both setups to check fuel consumption and general feel.

If I can get some cheap 2nd hand pipes I'd like to try some other designs.Something with Drummer type performance and sound would be nice.

Teeps.....did you notice an increase in vibration ??...is your pipe deep loud or just louder.??

Still looking for design ideas If anyone has any...

I have not noticed any vibration increase. The way the glass pack was installed incorporated the lift point bulkheads, and the muffler mass is probably the same as stock.

Louder for sure, deeper, yea maybe. Now people ask if it's a Harley, instead of who makes a Buell, or what is a Buell.

I don't think you will see much performance gain unless you remap the ECM or use the Buell race ECM. You will likely see a slight drop off in overall performance with out it.
