Well I got the Buell race pipe I won on ebay today. Couldnt wait to get started so Gotj came over to assist. Sorry Etennuly, I promised to call but had "little kid at christmas" disease. Everything went fine with the following exceptions.

Make sure you have deep head sockets to get the muffler straps off. A trip to the auto parts store and we were back in action.

Pulling the interactive exhaust cable is still incomplete since it was so creatively routed from the factory. Later.

Depressing the ECM retainer clips in order to remove the stock ECM was a pain. They have a Klingon torture device installed on each end so earthlings like George and me are punished for trying to remove their "factory service only" module. We finally figured out that the clips needed to be lifted outward at the same time to remove the module. Clearly the Buell techs have some nifty tool for this. We just wedged 2 small flat head screw drivers heads under each clip and pulled, wiggled and pulled.

I couldn't get the VDSTS to connect until George realized that the start/run switch was off. DOH!

After several failed tries at getting the TPS reset and finding a way to maintain idle, we packed it in for the evening until light returns tomorrow.

Tonight a cold beer, BadWeb archive searches and my shop manual will have to console me until I can tackle the beast tomorrow and see if I can get it to purr. I am sure I missed something.

All I have to say is "damn that pipe sounds good!" Thanks for the help George. It's awesome to have neighbors that ride Uly's.

Are you turning the idle screw back after the reset? Although you are suppose to turn it to a Throttle Position Reading of 5.1, I usually go up to closer to 5.5 to get it to idle smoothly.

As for the exhaust cabling, I had to remove the Front sprocket cover to get the cable removed. I also had to remove the wires from the connector to get the wiring through the frame.

Just wait until you get to try it out. Potato Potato, Vrrooomm.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try your suggestions tomorrow.

Now that I understand the idle adjustment procedure I am now a happy potato head! TPS reading shows about 5.5 and idle is between 1000 and 1050.

Thx
