Just got my pipe back from Special Ops, its louder than I expected, does anyone know how it compares to a Drummer?

THanks

Both are loud. If you want a slightly quieter pipe, find a Buell race pipe.

I have a Drummer and have heard the Special Ops. Very similar, but I think the Drummer is a deeper sound throughout the entire range. The Special Ops has a bit more open sound to it to me. I know my Drummer was extremely loud and reverberating in my helmet the first few hundred miles, but not anymore. I think they quiet down a little after being run a bit.

Ear plugs, ear plugs, ear plugs..

My drummer is not as loud as the vance&hines on my Harley which get a little irritating on the highway. The Drummer is a great muffler on a Buell, I originally thought it was too loud but either it has mellowed or I have. I still wear ear plugs...

Initially I thought my Special OPS may have been a bit too loud. The Constabulary have not seem too interested in it though.

How does that happen? Is there packing that settles in or do you think it is your ears getting used to it? I wished I would have given my Special Ops a longer trial, but it caused a very annoying reverberation in my helmet, both with and without earplugs. I'm used to loud pipes after putting 800 mile days on my "built"FXR with a Thunderheader. I still maintain its the position of the Buell muffler that makes it seem loud on the bike. Everyone with an aftermarket pipe, including the racekit pipe from Buell, seem to say the same thing. Seems very loud while riding, but listening to a buell go by, does'nt seem as loud. I'd still like something a little louder than stock, which most people with stock pipes are asking for. I heard rumors quite a while back, that a more stealthy Special Ops was in the works (special order for a customer) but haven't heard anything lately. Sorry, I hate rumors. I'll stop.

does the race buell race pipe fit on the Uly? The dealer said it was listed as not fitting on the Uly.

Yes, but the kick stand touches the left exhaust tip slightly when in the up position.

I dont have a problem with the stand touching. If your dealer has a race kit, buy it. It is gold.

Fastfxrs,

The Drummer has some packing in it. I'm not sure about Odie's. I believe that is why the Drummer settles down. Like I said, after 200 miles or so, that reverberation in my helmet stopped. That was not something I could get used to. It was bad. Now the pipe just sounds good. I went for a ride with 2 friends today. A 9S with race kit and a new Triumph ST. 9S led, I was in middle and Triumph in back. Triumph said she could tell exactly what I was doing with the throttle by the sound of the pipe the whole ride. The 9S said he could hear me climbing hills and getting on it hard, but that was it. I could hear the 9S race pipe over my drummer going up hills and getting on it. Guess it has something to do with where you are in relation to it. They both said it wasn't overly loud and did sound really good.
