I tried the factory recommended standard and more feedback settings for 220# and can't seem to get it right. On higher speed smooth sweepers the bike is fine but tighter, lower speed stuff causes the front end to get loose and step out. I suspected the chassis was getting out of whack and took some suspension travel measurements last weekend. It looks like the front and rear are deflecting the same, 4-4 3/16 inches travel out of a total of 6.5, so the geometry is staying the same while cornering. According to some guides I found online the recommendation is to add some rebound to the front. I guess I'll try that. Was thinking about lowering the forks in the clamps a little. The SM shows a little ring on the fork tubes where they fit in the triple clamps. I guess that's just to help positioning them uniformly? Surely the clamping force is enough the hold the tubes. Anyway, just wanted to ask if anybody has had similar issues and had been able to make an improvement. |

What tires are you running and how bad are they worn? I had similar with the edges worn causing the front tire to be triangular shaped. You'd be suprised how much different the feel is between a new and a worn front tire. BC Steve |

It's an 07 bike with about 3000 miles on the new Pirellis. I'm running 34/36 psi. I was wondering if a different tire would make a difference but based on the look and feel of the Pirellis they outa do fine. |

I was fighting several weird handling issues with my suspension too. I tried a variety of changes and nothing helped. The worst for me was a constant low side slide in feeling from the rear everytime I would initiate a corner. It turned out all of them were caused by running the 616's at stock pressure. I went up 2 psi and it fixed everything except the front end dive. I would say go back to the manual settings for suspension and play with your tire pressures a bit to see if it helps. |
