I just bought the standard pitbull stand. When I lifted the Uly, I noticed that the top supports on the stand slide forward on the swingarm until the right hand support hits the plastic belt guard. There seems to be significant pressure on the plastic belt guard. If it broke, it looks like the bike would fall. Regardless, it seems like the plastic guard it will eventually crack, break or warp. Are there other supports that I can get for the end of the pitbull that won't put pressure on the belt guard? | ||

Steve: My Pit Bull does the same, almost. Didn't even realize it was sliding forward, but it didn't appear to be putting pressure on the belt guard, just touching it. I was comfortable leaving the bike on it while I did tranny drain & fill. I noticed when I put the stand to the rear most point on the swingarm, it tended to slide more. If I put the stand about half way between the rear and the belt guard, it slid less distance. Am I making sense? | ||

I had the same problem with the pitbull stand sliding fwd.There are for lack of a better word nubs on each side of the bottom my swingarm I make sure that the pitbull arms are up against the nubs tight.also I adjusted the arms inward more on the stand.sometimes it takes me a couple tries to get it just rite but I am very happy with the stand | ||

Kip: Great tip on the arms, going to give it a try. Attached pics show deflection of the duckbill and placement of the rear stand. My rear stand touches the belt guard, but I can move it with my hand as it is not putting pressure on it.     | ||

Mine is up tight against the belt guard and I could not move it. In fact the stand is significantly skewed to one side because there is nothing to stop the left side from sliding, but the right side is snug up against the belt guard. | ||

WW- Thanks for the pictures. I just couldn't get comfortable with the idea of the bike sliding around on the stand (or resting up against the plastic belt guard), so I decided to go the Sears jack/cradles route. I had a woodworking friend cut the cradles for me, then attached them together with threaded rod. The bike is very stable up on the jack. Total cost is far less than what both Pit Bulls would have cost. | ||

The batteries in my camera were dead when I tried the jack out initially, but I've charged them up and will take a few pictures this week. | ||

I emailed a bit with the folks at Pit-Bull regarding use of their stands for the Uly, and their comment was that they weren't comfortable with the stability of the bike using the non-spooled stand, but that it was possible to put spools on the rear part of the swingarm since the oil reservoir doesn't go all the way to the back. Has anyone done this? Sounds like potentially a good mod, however I'd be VERY nervous trying to do any drilling at all on the swingarm. | ||

I wasn't comfortable using the forward handle Pit Bull and returned it. | ||

Dark Horse Moto sells a kit that adds spools to the rear. Though it go through the rear axle. Then when you need to remove the rear tire... well... Yeah... But there are pads underneath the swing arm to prevent the stand from slide up on the swing arm. They are close the very back of the swing arm.. But they will prevent the bike from sliding when on the stand. | ||

I am running Darkhorse spools and the P/bull with cradle/pads mount. The cradles fit tight width wise but seem better than the pads and the sliding. |
