Which stand works best for the Uly? I need to perform my 5k service. I need a method to hold the bike upright.

I have a motorcycle floor jack. I made a couple "U" shaped pieces of wood that fit the muffler, and put 1/4" threaded rod between them spaced for the jacking points. It takes some trial and error, but shaping a piece of wire to the shape of the muffler will get your arc in the ballpark. A sander or rasp can do the fine tuning.
It works great, and I will try to get a pic of it on here.

I just used a couple pieces if 2x4. An 8 footer should give you a lifetime supply. The threaded rod is in any hardware store and get 8 nuts and washers, you have 8 sides to the wood.

I'm using this one...

http://www.baxleycompanies.com/Sportchock.html

Very happy with it. I drive in the garage and ride on and get off. I also use it in the back of the truck when I have to drop if off at the dealer. Put the front wheel in and you only need to use tie downs on the rear.

It works great for Oil/Primary changes. .very easy to go back and forth between the side stand and the Baxley stand.

Have Pit Bulls, front and rear, and can stand and unstand the Uly by myself. Was a little nerve racking on the first try, but now I do it without any reservations. The rear stand is perfect for fluid changes and the front allows me to remove wheels and forks. Have to have the rear stand in order to use the front stand.

Just by looking through the website, I'm guessing the newfront and standard rear Pitbull stands work for the Uly?

Thanks! I think I am going to order the Sportchock. FOr wheel removal, I will make an adapter for my motorcycle jack just like Lorazapam.

I looked at the pitbull website and there were so many choices, I could not figure out which ones would work for the Uly.

Thanks!

WW-
Can you take a picture of your Uly on the rear stand? I was thinking about buying one to facilitate a rear tire change but when I tried it out at Cycle Gear the bike just wanted to slide right off!!!!

Roadrailer: Going to change the tranny fluid when (if) it stops raining. Will snap a photo. Do a "pit bull' search on this site. Someone posted a Uly picture with the front and rear stand. This picture convinced me to purchase the stands.

I found one picture, but it looked like the muffler also had a jack under it to stabilize it. When I tried the rear stand at Cycle Gear, The bike started sliding backward off the stand, and I took it down before the stand hit the belt guard.

I'm pretty concerned about this because my bike currently lives in a carport in an apartment complex. Whatever I put the bike up on needs to be very stable, just in case it gets bumped.

More pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Willy, did you need to pull the duck-bill to lift the bike from the steering head? I haven't looked at mine that closely, but heard from someone else on this site that the duckbill would need to come off.

Thanks!

Did put pressure on the duckbill and was going to remove it to use the stand. Talking to Al at American Sport Bike and he said it bent his duckbill when using the front stand, but it always went back to the original shape. Will probably not remove the duckbill to use the stand. Going to snap a pic for Roadrailer (one of these days) and will also post a pic of the front stand.

If you remove the upper fender,be aware that you will have to reset the headlight adjustment when you reinstall.

I've got a rear Pit Bull stand that works on the Uly just fine. I've also got a set of el cheapo stands, front and rear, and they don't work with the Ulysses. The fork bottoms are unequal length, so you have to use a pin style front stand.

Instead of messing with paddock stands, I just bought a motorcycle lift from Sears (JC Whitney sells them for cheap too) and used the template found on this site to make a cradle for the muffler. It works great. Lifts both wheels and holds the bike securely. If I need to remove the muffler, I will use the rear Pit Bull.

I also have the Baxley sport chock. I bought it for use with my trailer, but I've gotta say, it's an impressive product. Very high quality. I now use it to park my bike. No stand needed, just ride into it and get off. The bike takes up less space in the garage since it's not leaned over. They are sort of 'spensive though. But the quality is great, and the customer service is excellent. I ordered on a Friday morning, got a ship confirmation on Friday afternoon, and they arrived Tuesday.

I have two Baxley sport chocks. One for the Uly and one for my fiance's BMW f650GS. I use them in the garage and we just ride on and that is it. I also a have toy hauler and use the chocks in the hauler. Just ride in and strap down the rear real snug. Both bikes fit well. These chocks are real nice and with a simple adaptor plate can be mounted very securly in the toy hauler. I also have a lift that I would use with my GoldWing when changing tires etc. I purchased the lift at sams club and I made the cradle that is outlined on this web site.
