I want to change the hand guards.. which ones work well on the ULY and what type of mounts work on the handlebar? I know Acerbis has a swivel mount that might work easy and they sell extensions bars......I am familiar with regular hand guards as I have them on my dirt bike..I want to get the right ones the first time (no cutting and bending) with the correct handlebar mount to eliminate the cobble-up/frustration factor. Any ideas?

The Acerbis rally brush guards are a direct bolt on with all the right hardware for the Uly. They are available in gray or black too.

Tread...do those guards have the aluminum bar thru/behind the plastic deflectors? Did you use the swivel connectors?

Adrian, No aluminum, just hard plastic with aluminum mounts. I did not use the swivel mounts.

Much better than the stockers, but not as robust as some of the more expensive sets out there.

Motostrano has them for about 59 bucks.

Rubberdown,

They are crg knockoffs, in a matte type finish. Aluminum with wide angle glass. Got 'em on ebay for 80 buckaroonies.

They fit right on with the acerbis using the hardware that came with the handguards by just using a longer bolt.

I'm running the Tusk handguards from RockyMountainatv.com, $65 w/spoilers/wings. I've found them to be stronger than the Acerbis guards, and you can replace the spoilers and/or wings, in the event of crash damage. I've had friends crash test them at 35+mph in rocks and aside from some rock rash, they held up great. I had a friend explode a Acerbis guard in a low speed crash, which required me to drive his bike home several miles with no clutch lever, not fun.

As you can see by the other two bikes in the garage, I've run these on several bikes.
