Buell shop manual makes no mention of using loctite on the 3 bolts that hold the clutch inspection cover. It says to use loctite 565 on the engine oil drain plug and the tranny fluid drain plug. Do you loctite the clutch inspection cover bolts?

I would use the blue loctite. The 565 is more a thread sealer. Although I have never used any thing on my inspection cover. That being said, I thought you did not really need any thing on the oil drain plug. After returning from Daytona(a 1600mi. round trip) and changing my oil, the drain plug was finger tight and about 1/3 the way out!

I use blue loctite on every fastener on the bike. If you never want to remove it again, use red.

These bikes have a 45 degree non counter balanced engine and they shake like a wet dog at idle. Loctite is your friend if you are wrenching on a Buell.

I would recommend locktite of some sort. I am the guy who posted earlier that picked up a brand new buell and got 20 miles down the road and discovered I had no clutch inspection cover on the bike anymore and was spraying oil all over my purdy boots.

I'm with Windrider--I use the blue stuff religiously on metal-to-metal threads. It works and gives peace of mind.

On a rainy day loctite (blue) every small bolt you can find. ...you will be surprised how easy many come out..not much holding them...check under the seat too.

On my S3, I've used anti-seize on these bolts (4 of them on the tubers) and I never had one work loose. I did this based on the reports here of people being unable to get the bolts out and having to drill them out.

That said, I pretty much use loctite on every other fastener I touch. An experienced motorcycling friend told me once to either put loctite or anti-seize on any fastener I ever took out, and that's pretty good advice.

I use the blue on everything with one exception - the two chin-spoiler bolts that screw into the exhaust pipe, for that I actually use a little anti-sieze.
