Rode to work Sunday, after getting on parkway, noticed right turn signal not working. No indicator on dash, nothing. So I figured maybe a bulb out, when I get to work, I forget to check and turn off bike. I then remember, turn the ignition back on, and presto, signal works (both bulbs front and rear). Ride home, no problems...musta been me being paranoid. Next day, start it up, ride away, no problems, get on the parkway, and again, for sure, no right signal. Get to work, still not working (only right side, left is fine). When I leave to go home, right signal working fine. I need to bring bike to dealer for recall, but am reluctant to tell them about signal because of it being intermittant, and them keeping it forever. Any hints where to look? Maybe a short somewhere? Obviously not the ground to the flasher or the left wouldn't work. Anyone have this problem?

Sounds like a faulty turn signal switch. It should be easy to open it up and see if there is corrosion or gunk blocking the contacts in the switch and test it with an ohm meter.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be a bad connector in the harness. If your dealer has a competent Tech, he'll find it and fix it in short order.
Here's something to try; while sitting on the bike turn on the turn signal. Turn the bars all the way to the right, then all the way to the left, and back. Does the light start working, then stop, then start again as the bars go back and forth?

I had the same problem on my City-X. Just a right turn signal plug under the fly screen that came loose.

I had the same problem from day 1 and after the switch housing was replaced and it still didn't work they rooted around the front of the bike tugging on the harness until it worked. Turned out to be a pinched wire. Never heard of that one before.

Thanks everyone, will look into it further, didn't think of turning the bars back and forth. Will keep ya posted.

+1 for the pinched-wire/harness problem. I had the same thing.

Just a quick update, Crusty you were right in that turning the bars back and forth made the flasher start and stop. Bars straight, flasher doesn't work, turn a little left or right and it starts up. I checked all the plugs under the windscreen, but nothing changed, however if I just moved the harness going back towards the frame, I can get it to fail. It's nothing obvious that I could see, (as far as bare wires rubbing the frame, or anything pinched) so I told the dealer to check it out while the BAS is being done. That harness is wrapped tight, didn't want to open it up to look for the problem further.
