Darnit, nothing works for me these days...

Just got a VDSTS from Al at American Sport Bike, finally get it a chance to try it today (Saturday). Won't connect (when I select "ECU/ECM Selection" on icon bar).

I'm using COM1 on a laptop. No USB/serial converter to fuss with. I KNOW the COM1 port is good, since I was using it yesterday for something else.

This being Saturday, nobody is open. Guess I'll call American Sport Bike Monday, then maybe Technoresearch. Probably a bad cable. I wish they'd check these things out before they ship them...

So I guess I'm not asking for help...just complaining.

P.S. I've read all the documentation and I'm doing everything "by the book"

is your bike key on? I know, dumb question, but I do field service work, and ask those kind of questions first.
Make sure you have the correct interface, check the vehicle interface cable connection, and hit test. It should show you what interface you have. Some folks have gotten the Harley one instead of the Buell version.
That will let you know the port is seeing the interface module.
If it recognizes that, then You will have to get in touch with the folks at American Sport Bike or the manufacturer.
They may be in on a saturday, I wouldnt be suprised if they were.

Duh, the ignition was on, but the "kill switch" was not.

Sheesh, sometimes I even surprise myself...

Dr. Greg I just got my VDSTS on Thursday. I did exactly the same as you and did not turn on the kill switch. All working now on my side as well. I forgot to check out Murrae's bike for the oil leak. He had a new set of MT-60's on his bike that distracted me from my original goal. I did send him an email asking about the leak, but I think that yours is definitely leaking more than it should. You may want to get that in under warranty if you still have it.

I got mine thru DaveS at Appleton. Actually Andy took over half way thru on the order. If you go to www.Americansportbike.com and click on store at the top, Buell, XB12X, the air fuel category and it is under there. I tried posting the straight link, but kept getting formatting errors.

The site is strange like that. If you navigate to the product via the categories, and then create a link, it doesn't work. But if you search for the product, it does. We're updating the store SW now, and I think that behavior will be different soon.

This link will work: http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-a pp.cgi?usr=51F4004380&rnd=2508479&rrc=N&affl=&cip= 69.160.135.44&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=9305&cat=&cats tr=
