Chris, sorry I missed your question.

I haven't noticed any big improvement in braking. I will reserve judgment for the track. If the wave rotor stays fade free, then I'll be happy. That's my #1 worry about the ZTL system is overheating it. I'm a big heavy guy, on a big heavy bike. Not a good combination when it comes to stopping.

I did a pretty aggressive ride on Saturday over a mountain. I had to use the front brake pretty liberally. It never had a drop off in performance. Single finger braking was all that was required. Very nice feel.

3 days till Barber!! Woo Hoo!!

Chad,

I think that you should run your track day with the luggage on... both panniers and the top case!

Don't have the panniers...sold them to Fatty B. I do have the top case. Thought it might be funny to flip up the triple tail and bungee a sock monkey to it. : )

Woooooo hooooooooo!!

The Uly rocked on the track. It seriously needs more power, but the handling was great. The Wilbers shock and springs made a huge difference.

I would have never thought you could drag a knee on a Ulysses...but I did. Both of them, a few times. The bike handles so well, it's amazing. The Lyndalls pads performed great too. No fade, and good linear stops. I am really surprised at how well the Ulysses handles when pushed hard. I thought it would tie itself in knots or get squirrly, but it didn't. I've never ridden any bike as hard as I rode the Ulysses and it performed much better than expected.

The infamous "Killboy" was taking pictures, so I'm hoping he'll have them on his site soon. For now, enjoy this teaser of what my front tire looked like:

But I've seen your knees drag when you brought up the side stand!

I think it is funny that NOW you need more power. It must be that the suspension upgrades are all that you hoped for.

That is super...............man!

Sweet! Now the question is, WILL Chad be the first one to shoe-horn a race-only XBRR engine into his Uly? Stay tuned....

Congradulations Chad, nice looking bike. Good to see performance mods done based on requirements as opposed to looks! Reminds me of the guys I used to lap with at various tracks, there cars were not "fast and furious" looking but if you looked closer all you saw was top shelf brakes and suspension bits. Going fast is easy, stopping and turning separates the men from the boys!

The suspension works great, a very worthwhile upgrade.

I don't want an RR engine. One at the track was leaking oil after one and a half sessions and melting a hole through its fairing. The other would start, but not stay running very long. The guy had to hold the throttle to keep it running. They don't like going slow. I think Buell tried to get too much power out of that engine. They can keep it. Just give me an honest 100-110hp at the rear tire and I'll be happy...oh yeah, and drop 75 pounds off the bike. : )

Cool! I just ordered all my pics on CD.

I'll post some better res ones when I get the CD.

The dude on the yellow X1 in front of me in one of the pictures Fatty posted is Tom Bumpus, owner of Bumpus HD/Buell, our servicing dealer. It helps to have a "Buell Guy" run your dealership. : )

There is nothing to "doing it", just sign up for a track day and as Nike so aptly says, "Just do it!". It's a ton of fun!!

Sadly, there are no pictures of my knee on the ground, but I have new scuffs on my pucks to prove it (quick! Hide that sandpaper!!). I also touched a peg down on the Uly by mistake. I didn't get my weight shifted over quickly enough, and the left peg scraped. Due to my large upper body mass, I can hang off and keep hard parts off the ground at all by insane speeds.

I did another track day on Sunday. Proofs are on the website, but I don't have the high res versions yet.

I battled with a Gixxer 1000 and passed him several times in the tight stuff. But he'd leave me for dead on the straights. The track was Nashville Superspeedway, where you use a big portion of the NASCAR high bank. On the banking, I was flat out in 5th gear only managing about 115 indicated (120 a few times). That darn Gixxer would whiz by me like I was sitting still. He said he was seeing an indicated 160. WOW!!

Here's a teaser:
