I posted up in the MBIV adventures section.

We have a final roster yet?

Sanchez, let's take the Heated glove/grip issue over to the KV, I'd like to discuss this further without thread jacking. I'm looking forward to seeing "the nugget" at MBIV NUTS

Hi this is Pso- I am running the combo and couldn't be happier! The weights have stayed in place and when I put the Polly's on hi, after a few miles I need to switch to lo so that I do not scorch my hands. I use heavy winter gloves and the heat just goes right on throuh them. Both are very fine products. When I installed the weights on the right hand side I just kept a flat blade screwdriver between the weight and the grip so that I would not get any binding when I inserted the hand guard clip between the throttle and the weight.

"JMHinkle, are you still planning on adding them?

Are you still going to be at MBIV?"

I'll definitely add them at some point.

As far as MBIV, if that was addressed to me, I didn't have any plans to attend that.

Thanks Pso for chiming in, I knew someone said they were running them, but could not remember who.

JMHinkle,

I ordered a set of the bar ends. I'll let you know what they look like when they come in.

I was thinking you were in NC. NM to NC will be a fir piece!

I finally got a chance to take the bike out for a ride since I installed the bar ends. They really do make a difference. They virtually eliminated any vibration that I was feeling in the grips.

I have both. As was noted in another thread, the right side is a bit warmer than the left (not what I would expect with the insulating quality of the throttle grip, but it is). I had the weights first, heaters second, so can't opine about effect of heaters only. BTW, weights didn't have as much of an effect on vibes as I hoped. Kind of moved the range around a little is all.

I got my HVMP Extra Heavies installed earlier this week and had some time to ride around with them. I'm really pleased so far. They make a noticeable difference in handlebar vibration. It's actually kind of eerie how still the bars are. At highway speeds, my mirrors are clear without having to squeeze the grip. The only thing wrong with them is the color. The brushed steel really sticks out on a black and orange Uly. Maybe I'll plasti-dip them to match my clutch/brake levers.

Sanchez- I agree on the color. Let me know how the plati-drip works. Thanks

I just installed mine tonight. Seem well made.

Am I correct in assuming that, once installed, if I snap the hand guards "open", I will need to "re-install"?

The first couple of times I tried it the silver spacer snapped against the bar end weight. Do yours stay put?

My bar ends fit tight against the hand guard. So tight that I can't snap it open with out loosening the bar end first.
I don't don't mind it so much because I used to have the opposite problem of the plastic bar end always loosening & popping half way out of the bar.

So.. would you say the HVMP bar ends work with the polly heaters?

So far so good. I was able to get them installed with no problems. I did have to slide the "burner" a little farther into the bar, but I turned them on and got the oh, so familiar "Dayam, that's hot!"

My only concern is the thermal capacity of the rubber in the bar end itself. It appears dense enough so as not to melt, but I plan on keeping my eye on it just to make sure.

I wouldn't want it to get slimy and slide out.

Thanks, that's good to know.

I plan on ordering some polly heaters real soon and was thinking I might have to sacrifice my beloved end weights for warm hands.
I tried going back to stock once before. That lasted a whole 8 minutes. The whole blurry mirror thing never bothered me until I got those weights and started seeing clearer images. The hands don't seem to go numb anymore either.

Please keep us posted on the whole HVMP/Polly combo. It sounds like there's a lot of us dying to know how it holds up: )

You are right about that. On my first trip with the Polly heaters, I burnt my palm through my winter gloves. But it felt so good!

Anyone tried powder coating the HVMP's? I would order them today if they were black.

Metalstorm-See my post of Feb 18th. I have several K miles on my combo and they work great. I like the idea of perhaps powder coating the weights black. My only complaint is that they are silver.

I think the powder coating will be a problem. I think anodizing or PVD may be a better option. The hardness is much better. Because they stick out, they will catch every bug, rock, tree branch, and piece of grit out there.

I finally got mine ordered last week and installed this week. I agree with Paul56 that they didn't do as much as I thought they would. They seemed to remove the majority of the vibe from the grips, but my mirrors are still pretty blurry? Is there a secret to them working better such as installing looser or tighter? Further in or out?
