Teeps, When my battery took a crap (same deal I think my left over 06 sat for a while at the dealership) I took it in and they charged/tested and said it started fine. I left the bike there for about 3 or 4 days ( during that time my bags came in so two birds with one stone). Also told them leave the bike off any type of charger for that time period to replicate what I was experiencing. So when I came to check on it after 4 days the tech went to go get the bike. He was taking a long time to bring it up front. Well I knew what was taking so long as soon as he walked back to the front of the shop minus bike. Hey guess what the bike would not start and I got a battery out of the deal. Sometimes you just have to give them a little direction. |

Found it on the office of defects portion of the NHTSA website. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/res ults.cfm Looks like a production change that occurred back in June 2006 this does not look like a recall. Though after they investigate maybe but no other details are available. |

Birdmanrh, What you found is a service bulletin about a production change not a recall. (Message edited by krassh on February 11, 2007) |

Why the change for the TPS and throttle body? Inquiring minds want to know. As an owner of an early 06 so do I. |

The issue is not the sensor itself, but rather the mounting. If you've had the sensor replaced under warranty, you will still need to have the relocation performed. Not that I'd want to risk my own safety by fixing this myself ... But I'm curious if the relocation is something that an owner could perform easily? |

Stevenknapp Posted on Wednesday, February 14 I'm curious if the relocation is something that an owner could perform easily? Probably, if you could get the part(s) and the repair procedure, and had the skills. |

I'm curious if the relocation is something that an owner could perform easily? Probably but at the same time, if you ever want to sell the bike, you should have the recall done. Otherwise it's VIN is going to be sitting in some Govt database somewhere as a vehicle needing a recall. |

And won't be able to leave a dealership if brought in for service until addressed. |

I can understand wanting to wrench on your own bike, but I think some have acute dealer phobia. |

From what the service guy at the dealer Fatty and I use told me, it's a very quick fix. Should be a "while you wait" procedure. Even easier than the sidestand recall. |

I'm going to take mine in and have it done. Along with the sidestand recall. I've had NOTHING but good dealer experiences myself. And I in no way was trying to imply otherwise. Just thought if it was something really simple like flipping the sensor around, I might do it before my first ride of the "season" just out of paranoia. |
