Anybody know the best way to remove/replace the mounting pins on the stock shield?

I used a spark plug boot removal tool and some masking tape on the shield, so as not to mar it. Worked great.

As with most plastic "clip" stuff, make sure it is warmed up before trying to pop them off.

Etennuly, thanks for the warmed-up tip, not easy to remember for me in semi-cold CA.

Bienhoabob, how does a boot tool help? Do you use it to push the pins back out through the shield from the back?

The spark plug boot tool has a Y or U type end to it. You insert the Y/U under the pin and pop it out.

Tape the front part of the shield, pry out the pins from the front. Some people put soap/vaseline between the pin and shield to help it slide out.

Thanks!

I was concerned about deforming the heads of the pins by prying.

Just picked up some new pins and Lightning bars and spare turn signals, I can see now that the pins are thicker where they sandwich in the shield, shouldn't be that hard to pull.

Once mine is up to "room" temperature I just get a hold of the windscreen itself near the pins and pull straight out. The pins will pop out one at a time.
