Hi, have ordered my new Uly,and expect to take delivery in the near future. I come from a BMW R11s and want a few creature comforts I'm used to.

So I'm up for the zero Gravity screen, to me seems best compromise of function and looks, any negative reports ?
Heated Grips, seems the in bar heaters seem popular, but the twist grip side would be cooler I would think ? I like the idea of in bar heating as there would be no rotating cable on the Twist grip side, but I can't find a lot of info on this site re,form and function ?
This is about the extent of my intended mods. I'm hoping to get them done before the Australian round of WSBK as I have our annual ride to the island, and it may get a little nippy down that part of Australia.

For the grip heaters, start here:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/232526.html?1161017135

There are also many using the wired heated grips, but I personally don't like the price and wear factor involved in them. As far as heat, those who find it uneven usually see the throttle side being hotter with the Polly grips.

I also have the Zero gravity and like it. I don't love it, but it is the best option I have found. It puts the air right at my helmet which causes me neck discomfort on high speed or long rides, but at least I don't feel like I'm being ripped off the bars like the stocker. Ordered mine on Ebay.

I second the bar heat being even. I think that you will find that the grip side feels hotter due to the fact that you must use a firmer grip to keep the throttle open.

I would bet that if I used a throttle rocker, the sensation would be lessened.

I like firm constant air vs. deflected air, but to each his own.

The Polly heaters are first rate if you decide to go that route.

Fart_Bstrd I've considered the Polly heaters and they seem the go to me also.Strange I thought the Polly heaters would have been colder on the throttle side due to insulation of the twist grip ? Any way it seems experience out weighs logic, which is often the case. I'm trying to get the Zero Gravity screen ordered but haven't had a response from the makers yet,I don't suppose the local importer would have a Uly one in stock,so I'll try getting direct.
Thanks for the help and input,I'll be excommunicated from the R11S board soon so I'll be around here a lot more to get informed.

Greetings, and welcome to Buell ownership! As a former roundel rider myself I have to say that affordable replacement parts, a large dealer network, and outstanding reliability are easy to get used to.

The zero gravity looks like a goood solution as does the Parabellum 22" screen (pictures of this are available on another thread). I'm using a laminar lip mounted on the stock windscreen.

As far as the grips go, I had the wired twist end grip heaters on a harley davidson that I once had and they didn't last more than about a year and a half before breaking so I'd recommend the Polly Bar Heaters.

That's the next mod on my Uly - well, besides luggage of some sort. Touratech has some good (and some not so good) stuff for the Uly.

Glad to have you.

I used the good old heated grips that stick on under your grips. I insulated the clutch side with some duct tape so the heater didn't heat the bar as much. Both side are pretty even heating as they are made to be installed on either the clutch side or throttle side. They work great. I've run them on my bikes for years. Never had any issues with them, and if I did, they only cost $30...I'd simply buy a new set.

Here's where I got mine:

http://www.casporttouring.com/store/merchant.mvc?S creen=PROD&Product_Code=16025&Category_Code=dual_s tar_e

I wired mine with a relay so as not to tax the stock wiring. Might not be necessary, but better safe than sorry.

Welcome Bailes: I have the Polly's and they are very good. They do get too hot when wearing thin gloves on the Hi setting, but then I just switch to low and that works very well (i also have the touratech hand guard extenders). It is a very clean and simple install. I traded up from the new 1800 Goldwing and think that the polly's are better than the Honda OEM's. I am still waiting out the front fairing.

Great! I'm going for the Zero Gravity Screen,Polly's,and have an order in for the Special Ops heat shields and pipe. Hopefully I can get all this gear on in time for my annual trip to the WSBK at Phillip Island. I expect to pick my bike up about the 29th Jan. With some luck some of the parts will be on there way to me.

Ian, welcome aboard. The weather in March would normally be OK down here in speed camera land so a run to the WSBK round should be pretty hard to take on the spanking new Uly.
I should be going this year as well so I'll keep an eye out for you.

Well I hope to pick up the Bike Friday, this will give a bit of time to Trash it before the Island trip. Ray I will be staying at Cowes so I hope we catch up Mb:o418265699. I'm trying to get some of the extras sorted, one thing I'd like to know if anyone has experience with the Buell tank Bag Options ? Seems I'd need to get from states as not in stock, but I'm not sure if the Buell one is the go or just get after market from Australian supplier.

Bails, most of the Buell gear in Oz is well priced,so I tend to buy from my dealer, obviously things like heat shields we buy from Odie, but as for the Buell type gear I have bought from my dealer,ps wont be able to do the P.I run this year but we ought to try for a Uly run next year, still need to try and get a list from somewhere to find out how many of us there are in Oz too!

Well I have my Uly,actually have had it for 2 days now.Really enjoy the ride. I'm licky I'm coming from a R11s BMW because I'm used to:

Lots of wind ( More)
Old fashioned O2 ECU on off programme ( Worse than the S at the Moment)
Slow Gear Box ( Actually better than the S)
Handles (yeh does it handle,I think better than the S)

This bike is pretty much living up to my expectations, I have a few things to do yet, screen coming, I think I'll get an 07 seat
,Lights(what lights) and so on. I like personalizing my ride . Get plent of people asking what is it, that happened when I first owned my S.

Must get back to riding.

Gearbox gets better with kays but it is different. Wind you get used to. I had previously come from fully faired bikes and forgotten what naked was about. ECU stay out of those revs and your laughing ! I keep thinking about the seat as well but I don't think I'll bother with it.
