Being forgetful and lazy, has anyone installed the Kisan Turn signal canceler. I was looking through the knowledge vault did not see any mention of it, but then again see above. So asking the Uly folks here just seems easier. It is beautiful day here so I must go and ride now

I put one on my M2 back in 2001. The first one died after a few months, and Kisan replaced it free of charge. The replacement worked well, but the audible beep function was hard to hear. It was still working when I sold the bike last spring. All in all, I liked it. They gave me a 10% discount for being in the ATC and the AMA, so ask for that if you call to order one. I probably will get one for the Uly eventually.

I brought one about two years ago when I had an S3T. Before I traded in the S3T, I removed it and transferred it to the Uly. It works perfectly. It's a straight plug in replacement. Kisan also supplies a spring set up that will reset the turn signals. If not used, (my case), you have to manually reset the signals by simply pressing the turn indicator again. It has three settings. Something like 6, 10, or 20 flashes before it will turn off.

It's pricey, but has saved me from riding down the road with the turn signals on.

I just went to the Kisan site at www.kisantech.com. I left a message asking which model would work for the Uly, since they don't list it. When I get a response, I'll post the info.

I've had signal cancellation device for a while. It works great.

I had one on my ST1300 and it annoyed me.

The only thing is I could not put the return spring in and maybe if I could have it would have been fine. In other words I still had to press to cancel the previous input before starting a new flash sequence.

Anyway, i took it off that bike and since both don't have it I just learned to remember. (Still forget sometimes)

I had self-cancelling on my V-Rod and they worked great most of the time. I would say they didn't cancel as much as I do now.......

American Sport Bike carries the Kisan unit that works on the Buells, here: http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-a pp.cgi?usr=51F6502889&rnd=9163986&rrc=N&affl=&cip= 69.160.135.44&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=16052&cat=&cat str=

They work as described above, you set little dip switches to set the number of flashes. You can have the turn signals run as running lights with it too. And it is a solid state flasher, so it seems to be compatible with most aftermarket turn signals.

I had a Goldwing for a short time that had self canceling signals. I HATED them. Wished I could have turned them off. I want to be the one who decides when my signal gets canceled.

It's really easy...make a turn and cancel the signal.

..... make a turn and cancel the signal.

What is the best protocol? Enter the turn and cancel? mid-turn cancel? complete the turn and cancel?

Seems like there may be good, better, best methods when doing it manually.

What Chad said, and if you do happen to forget for a few miles at least for that amount of time you got someone to pay attention to something.

I typically complete the turn and cancel it. Why would you do it before then?

Well obviously because you'd be afraid to leave it on. So turn it off before you forget. If you're into the turn you are done signaling your intent anyway.

I guess I just don't care that much about looking retarded (obviously, I bought the black one). I don't understand the big deal.

It's a fine farkle, but given the finicky installation and extra expense, I'll use the thumb.

We played a game on the last ride with ChadHargis and Etennuly:

"Who's the group short bus rider for this leg?"

I think I got the award once, and the guy riding the Sprint got it two or three times.

I even think Mike got it once.

It's always fun to catch a MSF Coach doing something dumb.

Mike ALWAYS forgets to cancel his signal. I have had to pass his butt and give him the "blinker is on signal" sign.

Nice, Treadmarks! Nice!

Chad,

I thought it was just a "style" thing with Mike. I didn't know it was a chronic condition. : )

Just cancel before you shift out of first gear.

Nope...that fool will leave his signal for miles and miles like some blue haired old lady.

Nothing looks more idiotic that a bike strafing an 80mph sweeper with the damn turn signal on.

I rode yesterday at 39F for fifty miles through town. I used my signals many times manually with my winter gloves on. The issues of which you speak never came up. It could have, but it never did.

Perhaps more basic motorcycle training is in order. "signal ON - TURN - signal OFF".

The embarrassment of leaving it on once in a while is completely negated by watching the next "blue hair" do it. No big deal. I can take it! Can you?

Hell, at least you are using it enough to accidentally leave it on.

Here in TN, signaling is optional and in most cases will be the surest ticket to a pine box.

People see it and their reaction is "Hell no you aren't coming into my lane. This is my lane. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me, this lane is yours. Without this lane, I am yours."

I click it on. I pull over. If you feel you have been cut off, tough luck. I am signaling my intent and action. I ain't askin' permission!

OK
apparently enquiring about a small " farckle" can raise passion. If I solved the "ping" or discovered the perfect windscreen such arguments are understandable. This is not about thumb or not to thumb, this is about a simple add on. I love my uly and my glide, I am slowly trying to improve both for me. Thank you for the input.
Al Thanks for the post.
Treadmarks thanks for your service
Ft bstrd thanks for the Humor it's great
Chad lighten up
And the rest...Thanks for the information
