I want to buy VDSTS software. Is there a difference between the software that Daves sells and the software that American Sportsbike sells. Have they added timing to the software yet and if not, is that a planned update? What can be done with this software other than TPS reset? What is the price to us BadWebbers?

VDSTS is published by Techno Research. You can purchase it from any authorized dealer. I would not own a Buell without one. Factory support is great! Updates are available online as well. The reset alone will pay for the software. If you don't have a serial port make sure you get a Keyspan adapter. The cheaper adapters have created problems when used with VDSTS.

Almost forgot, the timing is not on VDSTS but it is not needed. Just use the fuel pump sound as TDC. Pull the front plug and watch the TDC mark and when all of the six vanes crosses the CPS then the fuel pump will cycle and one of the cycles indicates TDC. With the front plug removed you have a "soft" approach to TDC on #1. The mark should be straight up to be factory. If the approach has compression you are approaching TDC of #2. Turn the crank around at least twice and make sure you do not let the crank slide backwards when you make the adjustment. FYI, each mark on the CPS plate is ten degrees of crankshaft rotation.
