Due to a low speed, lowside last week my Uly is in need of new shift linkage. At the dealership today I noticed the Firebolt and Lightning do not have the lowering bracket we have on the Uly. I have large feet and larger boots so I don't think the stretch to the shifter will be an issue. I'm trying to avoid breaking the linkage in BFE and not being able to limp home. Of course I'll carry a spare but I think the shorter linkage will be less prone to damage in these "minor" spills I seem to take. Any thoughts? NUTS |

Buy it and try it? Maybe the local Buell/HD dealer would let you test drive the other shifter before you buy... I've been thinking of making a direct shifter. The only thing holding me back is the up for low shift pattern. And, possibly aesthetics. |

Teeps, Storz makes one. I have a friend who has this $100 item on his Firebolt. NUTS |

The best protection for your shift linkage is the Buell hard bags. I'm actually thinking about getting a couple of spare frame pucks to put on my luggage. |

Excellent idea Sanchez, I do expect to see those at TWO in March. NUTS |

I'll have to agree with Sanchez also. I have dropped mine a couple times and never a scratch on the bike or broken parts. The bags and hand guards hold up great in these situations. Also had a little run in with some woods. Only damaged the windscreen and mirrors. The bags saved the side of the bike from damage. |

Thanks Mike, unfortunately everything touratech does is on backorder/preorder. That might be an exaggeration but that part has been on preorder for a good six months. Maybe I can find one of our fine Badweb machinists who can sculpt me one special. NUTS |
