Aussie,

See this thread on advrider:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18 5311

A guy has put a set of Pirelli MT60RS Corsas on an XB9SX City Cross, but it has the same size wheels as the Uly so they will work. The front tire is available in the stock size but the rear isn't. IIRC the largest rear available is 160/60-17, which is a couple of sizes smaller than stock.

Seems like if there's enough interest in these Pirelli will soon come out with the correct size rear.

I'm running them...MT60's on the Uly. So far so good. No wiggle/mileage report but they look like they will be in the same range as the 616 Dslops. Sync's in the garage and Avon 44/45's after that.

Hey Flynuly can you post a pic of that rear Mt60 on the Uly?

I will not be home until next weekend so this is the best I can do from here.

I think this one gives a bit better angle of the rear. http://tce1987.smugmug.com/gallery/2050341/1/10901 5983

Doesn't look too bad to me. I think these will be my next tires as I live off road. What range did you get out of your Dunlop's so I can compare what you are seeing on the MT's. I have 1500 miles on my Dunlops and they look brand new minus the teets. Problem is I think they feel squirmy on the road.

I am running the MT60's on my motard and they have done amazingly well on both street and dirt. In the dirt they grip very well on hard pack surfaces (i.e. fire roads) and on the street they grip good in the turns.

I have about 3000 miles on them and the front is starting to swim a little bit at this point. I was told I might get 2500 miles out of them but they still look pretty good and I should get at least 5000 out of them.

Consider this is on a 300 pound DRZ400SM which is a little lighter than your Uly ;) Overall this should be a good choice for the rear with the understanding that the front may change after a few thousand miles...I is possible more weight up front might help with the slight swimming I indicated above.

Hey thanks for those pics. Looks pretty good as far as fitment goes. When you get a chance, please post some more pics showing the tires clearence and profile.

I may just try a set of these myself when I get ready for some off-road adventures!

Stevem1213 - these might help you out. profile on the front is dead stock. the rear tire is rounder, but fits just fine, and hasnt given me any grief in ~4500km of riding. I do about 50/50 street, and dirt, with most of my street riding being canyons, and twisties. ( I live in the central BC: ie, all mountain riding)

no issues at all with clearance, bead seat, or basic fit. Also FWIW, you might want to check out Karin Marisch's Euro Rally/Raid bike, as she's been using the MT60's for several years

Thanks for the info Ulendo! Those tires look badass! I think I'll try a set myself the next time I do a changeout.

As noted - the place they really shine is on dirt roads, etc. If you're looking for an on-road / rain tire, or one to screw studs into the alternate might be the Avon Pro-Extreme rains: those are a full on supermoto tire, and come in dead stock sizes, but reportedly wear very quickly. I'd been considering them, but when I blew out my Sync rear, the avons were ~2 weeks away, vs 2 days for the MT60's....having run the Pirelli's, I cant say I'm upset about it!

FWIW, the shop I had do the tires was very hesitant about mounting them. They're a good, reliable shop, and voiced concerns about how well they'd fit. What they found when they did it was that the Buell rims have a better bead seat than most rims, and were much happier about the results AFTER they'd done the install for me ( ?! - maybe one of the factory guys can chime in on this - is the seat area extra deep or something??) Just sort of a heads up that you might have to do some sweet talking.

Ulendo,
How well does it clear mud? I've had less than satisfactory results with both the D616 and the Syncs in this regard. Looking at the Erzberg Rodeo pics, her front seems to be remaining pretty clean.

they seem very reasonable in mud so far. it was a (relatively) dry fall here though - spring thaw I'll be able to tell for sure how well they clean out, and I'll post pics.

Well here's a question for ya,how much do the MT60's cost Stateside,as we can't get em here in Aus!I may need to find a tyre dealer in the states and get sent out,got friends in Montana as we type, might get em to bring em home as carry on luggage, wonder how that would look......
