Personally, the fan doesn't bother me. When people ask I just tell them it only comes on when I'm riding HARD!!! Now everyone thinks I'm some sort of GP racer LOL. As for the right side scoop - anyone got any pics? where to get one - I think it would look great. Matt |

I'll sell you mine. I don't think it really helps the cooling much but it does look cool. I just think I don't really need it that much so $150 + shipping and it's yours. BC Steve |

My only gripe is, it hides even MORE of the motor than the frame already does (which it does too much IMHO). It may as well be liquid cooled at that point. |

"I don't think it really helps the cooling much but it does look cool. " I don't care one way or another if anyone runs a RSS or not BUT it cools something down. My fan ran constantly preRSS and now never runs if the bike is moving. This holds true from riding the bike in WI, FL and points in between. Frank |

Frank, have you removed the RSS to see if the fan cycles more, just to verify that it's not just something to do with break-in? |

Sleez - I've done quite a bit of testing with and without scoop. RSS definitely keeps the fan from running in most situations. Parade or stop and go traffic still sees normal fan operation. Fan no longer comes on if you are riding down the highway. Fan still comes on when you stop (if above threshold temperature). |

I haven't done the testing that Adrian has but the instant I installed my scoop the fan quit running while riding (moving). Definitely not a break in induced phenomenom. Frank |

Same here. When I lent my RSS to Teeps a few months ago for his testing I immediately noticed the difference, fan was back to running at a much higher frequency of cycles. Once again, I don't expect to convert anyone over, and some may be chomping at the bit to explain why it can't, but the RSS works IMMHO. |

Here is the American Sportbike Carbon fiber one http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/garage.php?do=vie wattachment&attachmentid=29741 I noticed a big difference in fan operation after install, thought my fan had given up. |

Sounds like a good idea fellas. Maybe you can get Buell to give you a refund on the fan you don't need anymore. Better yet it comes in two versions. Scooped or Fanned. Will that be 1 scoop or 2. |

Certainly not in keeping with Buell pricing structure. Of course, you can always install a Special OPS pipe to cover up the fan noise... |

I have the American Sportbike RSS. I did notice a decrease in the fan running, but noticed a bigger difference when I switched to synthetic oil. I am, however, a fool for anything carbon fiber, and it looks as cool as all get out. |

Here is a shot of one of R.Crins' right side scoops. http://www.krinkfreak.com/photos/3-bikes-hires.jpg With the RSS, 20w50 amsoil/redline racing MTL and the spec ops free flowing pipe the fan only comes on when stuck in traffic. |

Treadmarks: Nice looking bikes. Sorry for being off topic, but... How do you like the Touratech Skidplate setup? Did you have any problems with the front guard increasing vibration from the engine? |

Treadmarks: Nice looking bikes. Sorry for being off topic, but... How do you like the Touratech Skidplate setup? Did you have any problems with the front guard increasing vibration from the engine? Paochow, Thanks for the kudos. I totally dig the touratech skid plate and front engine gaurd setup. When I put in on according to the instructions at night everything looked great. But when I tried to drive it to work the next day, the vibes were soo bad, I thought I broke something. On the front plate, one of the bolts secures to the engine, and the other to the frame, meaning all vibes were transmitted to the rider (thats me). They had hardware that was rubbermounteed so the vibes would not be so bad, but they pretty much suck. If you cut off the top right frame mounting tab, it will allow the engine to move as normal. So thats what I did, 7 of the 8 attaching points are attached to the motor, and the other is omited. The bottom bash plate is strong enought to lift the bike with a floor jack and remove both tires with all those tie straps or garage roller tracks. |

I was concerned about the vibes being transmitted through the front guard and that the guards seem to have some gaps in the front. I emailed KD Fabrication(Drummer) for a quote for a alumminum skid plate that has the bottom coverage of the TT plate but frontal coverage of the Trojan Racing Micron one-off (see http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/228113.html) I'll let you guys know in a new thread what they say. |
