For ergonomic reasons I'm selling my Uly. I just can't seem to ride it much any more without getting a pain/numbness in my right shoulder. My other two bikes('98 VFR and '05 XR650L) don't bother me at all. Anyway, I'm asking those who have sold their Uly's how long did it take? I have mine listed on the classified section of this site and have had no response. I realize that I need to get it out on as many sites as possible though. It seems as if we have a great bike but it is also somewhat of an orphan. David |

A couple of thoughts: - Before you sell the bike, pay a visit to a good chiropractor. Though the generalized theory of medicine that they preach is bogus, they do make technically excellent massage therapists. See if that helps. - Ebay, I'd guess. That will get you the most exposure, though I suspect you may be disappointed at what used bikes are bringing these days. |

Seems a shame to sell a bike for what is probably a simple problem with handlebar placement. If your shoulder is OK with the XR650L, then the cure may be as simple as raising up the stock bars. My comfort level increased dramatically with a simple lift of 1-1/2 inches. Somebody else on these Boards raised their bars by 2 inches, which is probably about as much as you can get, without lengthening the front brake hose. On the other hand, if you are determined to sell it, then good luck! |

In addition to bar placement, could vibration be an issue? My fingers would go numb after an hour in the saddle. I put a Barsnake in and it appears to have solved the problem. I didn't have this problem on other bikes. There are bar ends out there too. If your mind is made up, have you tried the Cycletrader? |

For ergonomic reasons I'm selling my Uly. I just can't seem to ride it much any more without getting a pain/numbness in my right shoulder. David, I have an XR650L that I converted to a street tard before I bought my Uly. That bike fits me like a glove. When I first got the Uly I had pain and soreness in my left shoulder. I knew the pain was coming from having to lean forward on the Uly. I took the measurements from the XR, and using a corbin seat and Rox risers, I duplicated the seating position on the Uly. Now it just feels like a Fat XR with alot more power. If ya wanna sell, sell. If ya wanna ride, call Rox. In January he will be releasing a Uly specific riser that I am sure will solve this issue for quite a few Uly riders. |

Well, you guys have managed to give me some hesitation to my plans. At first I was set on selling due to above reasons. I do like the Uly quite a bit and selling would require a substantial financial hit of depreciation. However I'm giving more thought to trying some type of handlebar replacement or relocation based on your suggestions. I will look into the Rox risers alone, or perhaps in conjunction with a different set of bars. I think for me what I need is a narrower set of bars along with a closer reach. Perhaps just cutting an inch or so off each end along with some risers would work. Thinking about it my XR has just about the same width but a closer reach while the VFR being a totally different riding position just works for me. Again, with the VFR I find that the bars are quite narrow and there is a relatively short reach to the bars. Thanks for the insight! David |

I had a neck injury in high school and have found that bar placement is crucial for my comfort(lack of pain). The last 5 bikes I have had required that I change the bar placement. I needed to get bar risers for the uly and that took care of the neck pain for me. good luck whatever you chose to do. Paul |

Try a lower seat, same-same as raising handlebars? Thirty pushups every morning and evening may help too? |

Try rolling the handle bars back, it will gain and inch or better. Push-ups? It's fifty or nothing for me! |

David, see this thread for how to make your own cheap, safe risers from a stock handlebar clamp: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/228937.html |

A lower seat won't work as I need the leg room. I contacted Rox and they said they plan on having Uly specific risers in January. So that is what I'm going to try. A set of Rox risers and probably some sort of Renthal bars. Hopefully this will give me what I'm looking for and I'll keep the Uly. That new Triumph Tiger 1050 or the Kawasaki Concours 14 look pretty good and I might need to sell something after all... David |

So that is what I'm going to try. A set of Rox risers and probably some sort of Renthal bars. David, I could not find a set of renthal bars that were tall enough for the uly. I did find a set of ATV bars on ebay that should be here in a few days. It seems the taller more narrow bars are meant for ATVs, so ya might wanna check that out. |

I was hoping that with the 2" risers from Rox and a set of Renthals highest rise bar I would have something. If I understand the Rox site I'll be able to rotate or bring the risers back a bit so the bars will be closer to me. I think what I need are bars closer to me and a bit narrower. I would like the stock height or a bit lower for the bars also. Thanks for the heads up though...I'll look into the ATV market to see what bars are available there. David |

Take it for a ride, down a gravel road, have a slight step off,put a dent in the tank/frame and let the insurance assessor right it off, claim the cash an all is good............Oops did I say that out loud! Actually I still love my Uly,even though it kicked me,I have found it to be the most comfortable bike that I have ridden/owned,hence the reason that next Friday I get my 07 Uly........I'm just waiting to sit on my new 07,and compare it to my 06,oh well only 6 more sleeps to my Xmas. |

Actually for me, it was just the opposite. The Uly was the first bike I could ride for more than an hour without my left shoulder and neck hurting. That included cruisers and sport bikes. Course, after I dumped it and landed on my left shoulder, it hurt a lot. The bike is OK though. Bill |

Its funny how a bike can be one riders torture chamber while the same bike is another's pleasure. David |

Then again I know people who build torture chambers in their basements for their own pleasure. |
