Those of you that have the lip. how far up or down the stock shield did you paste it? Also where does the wind hit you now. and how tall are you? thanks

Good question, I'd like to know that as well. Most of the motorcycles that I've attached the lip to have benefited from it significantly...but the stock shield is barely a shield and I've never mounted a lip on a bike so far below my head.

I mounted mine so the top part of the bottom edge is about 2" below the top of the original screen. I'm 5'11"-sit up straight and the wind is just below the helmet- quiet. Hunker down and the protection is increased along w/the wind noise. Laminar lip recommends you duct tape the lip on and try it before attaching. That's what I did to get the right placement

I may have mounted mine a tad lower, but I'm shorter also (5-9). Wind hits me just above the bottom of the helmet...perfect!

Wind off the chest and head in good clean air (I'm 5'9"-5'10"ish). Here is a picture:

I have the Laminar Lip and it took me a few rides to dial it in to my liking. You need to dial it in for your helmet position so the height info all of us are giving you may work for you or it may not. The Laminar lip came with one or two spare sets of Dual Locks which was almost enough for me. At one time I was riding around with three sets of lower dual locks on my stock shield while I experimented with the three different laminar lip heights. I also raised my rear off the seat a bit to try and find the clean air for my helmet which convinced me I needed to lower the lip. I used all my spares up and ordered another set of 10 Dual Locks from laminarlip.com. I completed my dialing with only three different lip height options. I finally chose the lowest of the three lip heights. I then used a knife blade to get a corner up on the extra dual locks and just peeled them off with no scratches or glue residue on my stock shield. I started out at Aetholton's height but ended up dialing it down as I was getting lots of helmet buffetting at 75-85mph and kept moving the lip lower until the buffeting was gone. It is now perfect.

I am 5'11" but I have a lower corbin seat and dialed mine down much lower than Aeholtons photo above. It's all about personal preference, and helmet location for you so go into this knowing you've got to dial it in to your position and liking. Once it's dialed in you'll never have to change the lip height again. I'd recommend you get the set of 10 dual locks now. If you take the lip off often enough to clean the shield and lip a dual lock or two will wear out w/in a year.

I've had my lip for 6 months and really like the added wind protection. Long after I had gotten use to the comfort of the lip, I took my lip off to compare and contrast with the stock sheild only. I was amazed at how much protection the lip gets you over the stock Uly Shield at 75-90mph on the interstate. Needless to say the only time the lip comes off my Uly now is when I'm at a track day which is only twice a year.

AN IDEA --> I've seen photos of people taping dental floss or some other thin threed attached to the top edge of the laminar lip to see how the airflow lines up with your helmet as you complete the lip dialing process. You want clean air at the bottom of your helmet (or a little lower) and upward. I didn't try this myself, but I think it might help you dial yours in sooner and save you spare dual lock money. I used the move your rear higher and lower method which did not require cool dental floss but may not have been as efficient. I and others will also then be able to pick you out as the knucklehead with dental floss on his laminar lip when you are on the highway testing your lip height.

Stuck mine directly to the flyscreen replacing the original shield.

Works so well for me I'm not really motivated enough to try it on the stock shield.

Made an unsatisfactory (for me) Factory Tall even worse no matter where I placed the Lip.

xbimmer-How has the lip improved the airflow for you? How tall are you? I am wondering because I have had a lip on my two previous bikes and have found their effectivness to be very sensative to rider height. I also have found the same with the factory tall sheild. I just cut down the tall shield so it is taller than the stock. I also like that it is wider than the stock shield. But I am still not happy with the effect of the lip. It worked very well on my GoldWing and also on my Concours.

Pso, I'm 5'11" and a little short-waisted and sitting on a '07 seat.

My Lip is stuck on the flyscreen at about the same height above it as Aeholton's Lip is above his stock shield. It's a tad lower than the stock shield but works much better for me.

It works like my BMW R100S Cafe fairing in that it takes the blast off the torso and cleans it up above the neck. It still allows me to ride a naked Uly without the turbulence from the stock and Tall (horrible for me) shields.
