I'm psyched. Got a black 2007. It feels great to own an American bike. Now I definitely have to trade my Davida Italian flag helmet in for the stars and stripes model - gotta represent. Won't pick it up until Monday and I' going to be getting some hard bags for it - I'm torn between the factory bags and the Touratech Zegas. Has anyone compared the 35 to 41 liter boxes? Are the 41's super wide? Also, getting a GPS until - and thinking about getting the Garmin 60CS. Thanks all for the advice and see on on/off the roads.. | ||

I have the stock Hepco bags on my Uly and wish I had the Touratech....I hate the clam style...I would much rather have a set of top loaders.....welcome to the Black Uly Club!!  | ||

Not to be a party-pooper here, but didn't I hear that the "American Motorcycles" badge present on the 2006 Ulysses (like mine) is NOT present on the 2007 Uly, since not enough of it is, er, made in America? | ||

Well I don't know about the % made in the US, but I DO know my italian bike nearly killed me this past summer.. Took it in for a go-over before a 6K trip - all checked out by the dealer.. In the middle of death valley an incredible wobble started - I blew out 8 rear spokes. Made it to Vegas in one piece, but we had the bikes at 90-100MPH through most of the valley (fun) - but could have had a rear wheel failure.... It cost me 600 bucks, 2 extra days in vegas (not a bad thing per se but..) and a lot of nail biting to get the spokes airborne expressed from the factory in Italy to the dealer - the whole thing took a week... I think Wisconsin's a bit closer... Loved my Goose but simply don't trust the dealer network anymore. b | ||

Loving my Uly. Welcome to the fold, I have the stock bags, and they work fine for me. You will love this bike, and from what I have seen online, probably get an improvement in how the dealer treats you. Dont mind fats, he does all our load testing, and the sugar from all the donuts gets to him sometimes. | ||

It is 22 deg outside and I am in withdrawal! ARRRRGHHHHHHH. Congrats on the new bike, they would have to drag mine from my cold dead hands!  | ||

No Kidding on the weather - it's been raining like crazy here in Washington and the forecast is grim. I'll be getting my snowboard out next week (rain in Olympia means snow at Mt Crystal) and will try not to think about the new bike too much. Unless somehow I could combine these two activities.... I wonder how my board boots and snowgear would fit on the bike.... hmmmm.. | ||

Welcome to the addiction Homeslice3! Nice to meet a fellow snowboarder. I had an awesome ride home along the North Shore of Lake Superior today. Can't believe its the day before Thanksgiving and I'm still commuting in Northern Mn. The local ski area is making snow like crazy for the Spirit Mountiain National Snow Cross this weekend. I usually am still riding at the begining and end of snowboard season but have never strapped the board to the bike. Sounds like a plan. Tim | ||

You could just straddle it and bungie it to the end of the seat. Since the seat is extra long, you should have plenty of room especially if you rotate the triple tail backwards. You would just have to put your boots in a backpack or strap a pack on top of the board. I think it's completely doable! |
