I have an '07 Ulysses seat on my '06; now I can touch the ground with the balls of my feet. 30" inseam here... |

I have the '07 seat on my '06 and with a 32" inseam I can flat foot it now. It's also much more comfortable shape wise to me. The seams on the '06 killed me. |

Is the seat on the'07 Uly lower than the '06? Yes it is both higher than a 06 low and lower than it too. The '07 seat is stepped in front so you can reach the ground and the seams are gone so they do not rub your inner thighs. I have all three seats and the '07 is the best compromise in comfort and reach so far. The step action of the seat takes something to get use to, but the seat is more comfortable than the low, and has actually a better reach in the lower step of the seat too. I am not sure that the '07 seat is more comfortable than the '06 standard though, except for the seams wearing on the inner thighs the '06 was a pretty good seat. As far as for the Pillion, the '07 seat is the best hands down. I just did 360 miles with the wife this past weekend and she was able to ride longer between stops on the '07 seat than she ever managed on either of the '06 seats, or the Corbin seat on the M2. |

The '07 seat has a gel like consistency versus the standard or low seat. You can actually press down on the '07 seat and see and feel the difference before you ever sit on it. The longest distance on any of the other seats or bikes has been 50 miles or so. Sunday, I rode 100 miles before I had to get off the bike. I also didn't have the instant "I want off this bike" when we got back on to ride the remaining 40 miles home. I would highly recommend the '07 seat for comfort from the passenger's point of view. The best $100 bucks we've spent on this bike in my opinion! |

Teeps, you got balls on your feet. Do they hurt when you step on them? |

So the 07 seat is 1.3" lower and retains more or less the same comfort, is this correct? Sounds very tempting indeed...another inch would be real nice |

I've mastered the trail bike stretch with the standard seat. The '07 seat does sound tempting though. |

I just demoed an '07 Uly. The seat is lower and more comfortable than the standard '06 seat (feel and shape, sort of a bucket shape). That said I am still keeping the '06 seat because of a) it gives me better leg comfort than the '07 seat, b) it's paid for! BTW, I am 6'1" tall and have an 33" inseam. BTW, the '07 tires are TITS! |

I've mastered the trail bike stretch with the standard seat. Huh? Seriously though... completely ignoring seat height (I'm 6'7"), which of the three Uly seats is the most comfortable for long rides? |

'07 seat for your butt, '06 standard seat for your legs. You chose! Btw, the trailbike stretch he is refering to is the leg reach to ground while sitting on a tall bike. Should not be a problem for you. (Message edited by dragon_slayer on October 01, 2006) |

Yeah, I know. Just responding to a previously non-existent pun. Sounds like I'll just keep the '07, as that's what I'll probably end up with before too much longer. |

Tell me, have you ever had a "White Castle slider" before?

Yeah, I recently delivered a truck in the Akron, Ohio area and had an overnight layover there. I ate at White Castle to see if it was similar to the south's Krystal. 'Bout the same, near as I could tell. I'm glad them little square gut bombs aren't confined to the northern realm of the country, 'cause I jes' love 'em. |

They sell White Castle burgers in the frozen section at the ALDI I shop at. Won't eat them because they list hydrogenated oil in their ingredients. Can you say, "TRANS FATS" and heart disease in the same breath before keeling over. I'm particularly happy that I have a good reason not to eat french fries anymore. Before it was just because they were deep fried (but they tasted so good I still ate them) but now I know how fries are made and held together. No more fries for me. |

Electraglider_1997, Sorry to completely hijack a thread, but AMEN brother! A couple of years ago, everybody thought the Oreo lawsuit was a joke, but the word is starting to get out. I found out about transfats the hard way a little over 5 years ago. After that I started reading food labels and was appalled to find so many "healthy" foods were full of them. NYC is talking about banning transfats from all restaurants which has lots of people stirred up. I think people are finally starting to notice this and ask "Tell me again why you have to put this crap in the food I eat?" http://www.bantransfats.com/ (Message edited by whodom on October 02, 2006) |

Stretch67 I have both '06 seats and have run demos on the '07's. For a long ride the stock seat is great because if you ride 170 - 190 miles between stops for fuel it is really nice to slide your butt back onto the back seat for fresh cushion and to stretch your legs. I also rolled my bars back about 1 1/2" so my arms would let me reach from the back. That also gave me more leverage on the bars when I'm stopped and I can now see my ODO over th clutch cable. I don't have enough room from the middle of the low seat to the rise to the back to stay comfortable on the longer rides. |

I'm just opposite of Etennuly as far as comfort. The stock '06 seat was good for about 20 minutes for me and the burn started. The seams also cut into my legs and made the seat that much more uncomfortable. My wife as a passenger also said that 20 minutes was about her limit on the back portion before being uncomfortable. Any farther than the 5 mile, 15 minute trips back and forth to work and the stock '06 seat was just bad to me. I now have the '07 stock seat and love it. I put 720 miles on it this past weekend over 3 days without a complaint. Overall, the shape fits me perfect. It is almost like two seats in one to me. It has a very defined triangle in the rear for normal riding comfort, but it has a more rounded, thinner area upfront that allows me to get into the bike for some hard cornering action. I also find the cushioning good for stints up to 2 hours or so without burn. My wife claims that it is much more comfortable to be on the rear of the '07 seat as well. The change of foam type is great to both of us. I do miss the little bit of leg room I gave up from the '06 seat, but I stand up and stretch once in a while and my legs are fine. I don't know how you guys do those long rides for 6+ hours at a time or thousands of miles in a day. I've never been on any motorcycle that is that comfortable. I love my bike, but I have a hard time envisioning leaving the state on it. More power to you hardcores travellers. I'm just not cut out for that kind of bike use. |

Questions for those who purchased the 07 seat for their 06 models. What part number did you order (black)? What price did you have to pay? I don't really need the lower seat but would like to have the more comfortable pillion for my favorite passenger (wife). Thanks in advance. |

Ordered from Daves in Appleton. We ordered the orange, so my part number won't help you. It list for $111, but with the 10% discount from Dave, it was $99.90 + shipping, no taxes though. I like the fact that it's delivered right to my door and I don't have to go the 80 mile round trip to pick it up. Daves can be found on the Sponsor Section of BadWeb, Appleton HD/Buell. He has a thread "I need it now Dave" and another "I don't need it now, but". You can also call him to put info on file. He'll take good care of you. He offers BadWebbers 10% discount and KNOWS Buells. I love the new seat and managed to go double the distance, time and mileage as I could have before. I'm not ready for "long" distance, but I can at least for the day and not regret it! Kristi

Thank you for the info, Kristi! Appreciate your comments about the comfort. My wife is willing to get back on the saddle after a 15 year absence. I tell you, the bike handles better when she is with me - and it's quite a bit more enjoyable having my favorite passenger with me. I've been with the gal for 25 years - longest trip we've taken (22 years ago) is a 1700 ride from Colorado to New Jersey on a KZ1100 in 2 days. |

I'm not even sure I'd do 1700 in 2 days in my Suburban! If she can do that, she should really like the 07 seat! I'm still pondering a sheepskin just so I can ride more than the 100 mile marker. I know part of my "problem" is that I don't ride enough. It's usually my 11 year old daughter with him and I'm home with the other 2 little ones. Not much riding time for Mom! |
