How many watts are you able to play with on the Uly? Smoking for 30 years has taken it's toll. I like electric gear.

It was a term of affection as a child. I believe it is derived from independent Republicans, way back in the day, who wouldn't follow the party line.

LOL, Independent Baptists who didn't follow the party line!

Somebody more knowledgeable than me about watts will post soon.

Total wattage according to the Cycle World review is 494 watts. I would stay below 80% of that. I'm not sure what everything else on the bike uses though, aside from the headlights @ 55watts each.

The small indicator bulbs on the dash are 1.12 watts for most with a few .7 watt bulbs thrown in.

Anyone know what the cooling fan uses?

quick question for the electrically challenged (that's me) the front dash is stamped 12v / 120 watts outlet. i am currently running the following hard wired off that outlet...

symtec grips 36w (max pull on High)
radar detector 5w max (guessing)
gps 5 w max (per specs)
----------------
total 46w at max
46/120 = 38% of max available.

FYI, also running off the battery tender seat plug w/o issues....
widder vest 35w (max pull on high - size 42vest)
i did up the fuse from 7.5amp to 10amp per
Widder's recomendation

adding the wattages up --- am i correct or clueless?

Running heated gear should be no problem. I run aux. lights at 55w each, high beam/low together and heated grips. with all of those on at the same time, the bike is still charging 13.1 volts at idle and runs up to 13.9-14.1 volts at 3K rpm's.

I've been using this to estimate excess capacity. Some of the numbers were pulled from the manual and some were pulled from the powerlet web site. Was always curious how accurate it was.

Thanks for the info! Wow, I'm surprised how much the fan, fuel pump and ignition draw. Guess I can justify the purchase of a HID light to save some watts

Its been a while since I created that spreadsheet but if I remember correctly.. fan, fuel pump and ignition ... were pulled off the powerlet site which means they are really estimates. In theory they should give you a good idea of what you have left to use.
