I did exactly that about 1200 miles ago. I only had 300 miles on my Uly when I changed the front to the Sync. I don't notice any issues. I just don't think there is enough of a difference in the overall tread pattern to cause problems. when the rear 616 dies, it will be replaced with a Sync. |

Orange, Did that eliminate the swimming feeling?? I know it is an obvious question. I am guessing I am keying on anonymous in another thread when he or she says that it makes a large difference to switch. |

Yes, I believe it did. But I also had the dealer check the steering head resistance at the same time. My guess is that the tire contributed 90% to the fix. I read a lot of posts on this before I did it. Try it, I think you'll like it. |

as Fat bastard said, the tires are 100% the problem. they do pretty well in casual riding situations and suprisingly well off road, but if you want to see what the Uly is really made of on the street and you like to ride a little on the fast side, the 616's must go. I am using the qualifiers on the street and the bike is rock solid in excess of 100mph and way more confident in the turns. |

Gtmg There shouldn't be any problems with swapping the front tire only, I've seen it done with no ill effects. I have the scorpion on the rear and the D616 on the front. Like I said earlier...I paid for the damn thing, I'm gonna use it up! Hey, Ft_bstrd is having tire wear issues, seems like he burns off any tire he puts on, so maybe you could send him your take-off for the cost shipping?!?!? (I feel for him) |

Etennuly, We need to hook up and ride. Since you'll be BEHIND me, you can see if there is any discernible reason for the abnormal tire wear! |

I wish there was enough on the Azaros to do the track day here on the 4th. I don't think I have 50% tread life left. I definitely wouldn't after the track day. |

I need to know more about track day on a Uly. I was going to do it on my City-X but never had the time. |

I did 6 track days on my Uly this year, and it performed quite well. The Dunlop 616's, while I never had a problem with them on the road, were definitely not well suited to track use (no surprising) and I happily switched to Michelin Pilot Powers after the second day. Once the Michelins are toast (which will be soon) I may give the Dunlop Qualifiers a shot as I have a good source for them, and I think the profile is more similar to the factory tires. The Pirelli Diablo Corsas should also be good... The riding ergs on the Uly are very comfortable, but not really that aggressive. To help with my positioning, I pulled off the stock peg-mounts and put on a set of peg mounts from a lightning. This will pick up an inch or 2 of ground clearance, and was a cheap and easy fix. I've also got a set of low Renthal handlebars that I haven't gotten around to installing yet. Other than that, it's great fun on the track, and definitely turns some heads. There have been more and more Buells at recent track days, and its nice to see the community growing. |

Wish I could do the local track day on the 4th, but my damn niece decided a year ago to get married on that day. |

I rode the Toys For Tots deal today with about a thousand of my closest friends. Man what a beautiful day in E. Tennessee! Got another one of them next Sunday out of Sevierville. |

I hit the usual haunts today. Beautiful day indeed! Just about got plowed by a service truck, a dumpster hauler, and an 18 wheeler. They were definitely out to get me today. That's what I get for volunteering to be ride leader. Last time I was leader, we lost an F3 to a left hander. |

Those things are BIG!...how did you miss all of them??? I can't ride worth a crap. Everyone was ok. The rider was over his head (by purchasing more than a moped), riding with guys that were above his ability to stay out of trouble (even I have to be careful with this group), with a bike that showed scars of abuse, with a bike that was poorly maintained, had only a mesh jacket, jeans, and sneaks, hadn't ridden in over a month, and target fixated on the ditch rather than the road. He had matching love handle road rash, a rashy arm, and a banged up ankle. Anyone can wreck. I have. Better riders have. This was simply a case of a rider bankrupting ALL the margin of error accounts. What's funny is that he's buying a CBR600RR. I hope he makes it. |

Today was Stupid Driver Day for me too. After awhile when I figure the odds against me have stacked enough I'll give in. Was home by 1300, too bad, great riding day... |

I've had days like that. Yesterday was one. Our group broke up early. Because the weather was so nice, I wasn't ready to quit, so I rode a little more. I thought to myself, wouldn't it suck if I missed three head-ons only to get totaled by a fourth. I made it home, but I took the Trace home. I didn't push it. |

"I didn't push it." I read that as conserving tires. |

I posted way back in here somewhere about the bike feeling like it wanted to slide out in turns lately and thought it was the suspension. It turns out it is the 616's. It's not when they are cold, but more of when it's cold out. When the weather was warm the tires were decent on the street and pretty good off road. Now with the 40 degree mornings, these things slip all over the place. I have to avoid painted lines on the street and parking lot like the plague or the bikes slips around on them like ice. Riding home in the mornings hasn't been too fun lately with every corner feeling like she wants to squirt out from underneath me. I may seek different tires sooner than I hoped. Any one else notice this on the 616's when riding in the cold? |

In winter, all tires suck. I've tried Avons, Dunlops and Metzelers and none will stick worth a damn when the temps get close to freezing. I just accept it and adjust my riding style. |

Yeah, the back of mine kicked out frequently on the stripes, especially when cool from dew in the mornings or when riding in the rain. Now that you know what it will do, you can adjust and ride accordingly until you wear them out, like I did, or replace them. This is the reason I'm riding with Scorpion Syncs. Ft_, I now have a new, albeit larger, concern about riding behind you in our up-coming tire study. |
