The thing that always has amazed me about this bike is the feeling that all posted speed limits for corners are way too slow. I have never had a bike that handles anywhere near as well as this ULY and I have owned quite a few bikes. It just feels like it is glued to the road and maybe that is why so many of you are always trying to wring out a few more ponies. My wife's Yamaha YX600 Radian is a nice cheap little bike that has served her well for about 10 years since we bought it used. Anyway, after having gotten quite used to riding this high torque at low rpm ULY I took the Yamaha out for a ride because it just hasn't got much use on account of the wife is in Law School and doesn't ride much. Taking off on that thing felt like there was something wrong with it. I've gotten so used to the low end grunt of the ULY that the Yamaha felt very feeble. Just love the torque and handling of the ULY.

I feel the same way after riding the Buells and then getting on my Concours. The Concours isn't any slower, and has enough torque to move you at 3k RPMS but it only wakes up after about 5k RPM. I thought something was wrong with it too, after spending a weekend on the S3T.

I've got a 250 Ninja I commute to work on. There is a freeway cloverleaf type off ramp that I always try to do at about 50 mph. It's almost impossible for me to maintain that speed on the little bike.

The Uly, on the other hand, does it with ease. It instills so much more confidence that it amazes me.

Granted, the Uly is much more bike in so many ways, but the difference is huge.

The damn thing never ceases to amaze me as to how solid it feels. It really brings it to light when you regularly ride other bikes.

I rode a buddy's Kaw Z1000 a few weeks ago. It was cool to be able to flat foot it at stops, and I like the big HP hit at 7 grand, but turning effort was higher, suspension was not nearly as well sorted, and off idle the quality of torque was way below that of the Uly. Yeah, I'm becoming quite fond of the big lug, myself...just wish it weighed 50 lb less.

Switched bikes for a short ride a while back when a friend picked up a nice used V-max. I had never ridden a v-max before that but always wanted to. "Make sure you wind it up enough for the v-boost to kick in" he said. I wound her up and it went pretty good, but I couldn't wait to get back on the Uly. The low end of the uly is so addicting. It would be very hard to go back to a bike I have to rev hard to make it go.

I felt that way about my 2004 XB12R, the forks on the 2006 Ulysses keep me from placing it as high as the Firebolt.

I kept my old Suzuki VX800 for about a month after I got my Uly. I gave it to a friend of my wife. Just before he came to get it I started it up and took it for a quick ride around the block. At the first turn I almost dropped it! It turned in so hard and required real effort to keep upright. And I had put over 60k miles on it in the last 10 years. The Uly will spoil a person. I can keep feet on the pegs to near stopped speeds just about forever. It goes through high speed sweepers with no drama or effort. Just point it and go. What a machine.

Yeah, you gotta watch out for that. A little confidence combined with some loose dirt on the inside of a corner can be a bad thing.

Try tranny fluid that is a lane on a 25 mph corner that you are taking at 50-60 mph. Say goodbye XB9S and hello ULY.
