Here I go again with weird electrical issues. I need to make an adapter to plug into the Uly power outlet for my Widder electrc vest, Widder does not have a plug for the large cig. lighter outlet. My other bikes use the smaller BMW plug.
Is there an adapter to go from the large to small plug?
Would you use the Radio Shack power cord or is there a better one? (to make my own adapter with parts from Widder)
Any other ideas?
Mike

i just purchased the adapter to plug my BMW powerlet plug into the cigar lighter on the dash. Works like a charm.

scroll down this page to the bottom.
take a look at
CIGAR/PL ADAPTER - AAC-001
it aint cheap, but it's aluminum and should outlast all of us.

Enjoy!

It seem like no matter what you have you need something different or two or three different ones at a time. Here are links for Gerbing and Widders connectors

http://www.gerbing.com/acc/accprod.html#DC

http://www.widder.com/html/Product/Hookups/index.html

What Powerlet calls the "coax" connector is the same as the connector that is used by Gerbings and Warmsafe. It is cheaper from everyone else than it is from Powerlet.

And then there is Warmsafe. They have variable heat controllers that arfe nice, easier on the battery, harder on the wallet. And a bunch of connectors and adapters too. Including a cigarette lighter to BMW adapter if I understand it right - link for connectors:

Get the Widder direct connection to the battery. No fuss with it. That way it leaves your power outlets available for other devices such as XM satelite radio, GPS, cell phone charger...etc.

Thanks for the report Chinook, that adapter looked like a "good thing". Any idea what the issue was with it?

yeah, i called powerlet today, i'm going with the under the seat adapter to the battery. with 10a fuse, i should be good with my widder w/bmw electronic thermostat.

they think the issue is the center isn't deep enough to make contact on the cig lighter. too bad. i like the powerlets as they snap in and don't wiggle loose

Dang, I have that adapter in the unopened package on the shop bench, was going to use it this weekend! I will try it anyway.

ok, i got the new bmw female adapter to connect to the battery tender plug. the nice lady at Powerlet also threw in a 10a fuse, which they said i should be fine going to from the 7.5a. (Widder wants a 10a) i think this is the ticket now....just tested it and the vest powered up. now i can keep my bmw electronic controller. think i like the connection at the seat better than the dash...easier to unhook for dismount.

it is part# PAC-025
