I know a suspension guru that says he can lower a Uly's stock suspension, for a reasonable price.

I will be the guinea pig; but I need to judge the interest in such a modification before I commit my funds and bike for the project.

Who's interested?

I think you need to do this for your own benefit. It's too easy to say yes I will and not to carry through. Happens all the time to many people's disappointment!

I know an easy way to lower the stock Uly suspension. Simply back off on the front and rear preload. Meaning, set the sag to 2.5 inches instead of 1.5 or whatever is normally recommended. You'll then want to increase compression damping.

Guy on a BMW HP2 pulled up next to me last Sunday at a fwy onramp signal (Kanan/101). Gave each other a friendly nod.

Left arrow turned green and we were off. I wanted to follow along for a while and check out BMW's $20k dirt bike but the guy was on a mission and two bikes doing 90-100 on the fwy isn't speeding it's racing...

Point is I felt like I was on a cruiser sitting next to that thing! THAT is a tall bike!

These guys have lowered Uly's using Ss parts:

Probably cheaper that custom suspension parts.

I suppose it depends what you mean by a reasonable price.

Reading the warbaby posts , makes $2000 seem reasonable for the amount of work and custom parts they put into it.

I certainly got me thinking its better to spend that , than do a trade in for another bike.

Call Ed at tracksideengineering.com.
He said he could shorten my bike 30mm with
front fork spacers and replacing the rear
shock spring with one from a Lightening, all for around $325. This is one of the best bargains I've come across lately.

Ed knows the Buell suspensions inside and out.
He is who I send all my customers to.
He made the XB9RRL for a customer that needed a lowered Firebolt.
I know he did a Uly already for a customer in Canada.

I'll be in Appleton Oct 31 to pick up my Uly. A black '06 with '07 seat and lowered by Trackside Engineering. DaveS made all the arrangements.

Beachbeemer:
How much did Trackside lower your ULY?
Did they shorten the side stand?

Slightly less than 2". The kickstand will have to be done in Appleton as just the suspension parts were sent to Trackside.

Did Trackside modify the dampers to limit the travel or did they just install shorter springs?

I really left it up to Daves and Trackside, giving them my dimensions. I'm not what I would call a technical rider. Just a guy who likes to pile the miles on. I don't ride dirt any longer and have never been to Deals Gap. I'll tell y'all what the results are when I pick the bike up next week.

Ah...Ft. Knox is easy to get into. Roll up to the Chaffee gate and show your drivers license and you're on base. : )

Or you can just have Pu$$y Galore and her troop of flying girls spray the base with "sleeping agent". Then you can just walk right in.

Don't forget your hat throwing Korean.

"Honestly, who throws a shoe?"
