Having the Race Kit installed along with my side stand recall. Got a call from the dealer... the computer doesn't recogize the ECM? They eventually tried it in an XB12S.. and it works fine. Appears that it just doesnt work in my Uly (I got the race kit from Daves..so I know its the right one).

Anyone ever seen this? I know a good number of you have installed the race kit with no problems.. this just seems odd (fyi. fuses have been checked etc...).

Anyone ever seen this? I have not idea where to look.. and the best I can tell neither does the dealer.

Thanks!!

Check the connector from the computer plug to the ecm. Are these guys at the dealer that stupid? if it works on one bike but not another, the only difference is the connection between the computer and the ecm.

You are paying morons good money, and it would tick me off. It is basic troubleshooting.

My feelings exactly... they have a reputation as a good Buell dealership... but you could have fooled me. They put the stock ecm back in and it is recognized by the computer..so Its would not appear to be the cable itself.. but who knows if they actually had it plugged in correctly when they installed the ecm....

and of course they are all hung up on some notion that the ECM was set to not allow the Ulysses to work......

Of course I actually had to laugh...then I asked if that was the case.. why did the hundred(s) of others that shipped out work and only on my bike does it not work.. very frustrating....

Oh hell you're in Dahlonega? Come over to B'ham and we'll install the ECM and calibrate the TPS. I have the Pro Series Kit on my Ulysses as well so one way or another, we'll prove the ECM good/bad,

The ECM "could" be bad. Possible but no probable

Yeah.. at first they thought it was bad until it worked in the XB12S...

I have every intention of telling them to put the race ecm back in.. try it one more time. (maybe the connector wasn't seated fully??) If it doesn't work then they can stop working and box up all the extra parts and I'll go pick the bike up. If that happens.. I may take you up on that. I actually have the software for the reset.. but currently no laptop and didn't really want to move my desktop out to the garage... but after this.. might have to just to check this myself!!

Thanks!!

Wow that makes no sense.

I can screw up allot of stuff before it'll amount to the same frustration I get when a dealership does a shoddy/half-assed job. ...at least I personally know the idiot doing the work on my Buells. Plus with the $ and time I save, I can spend more quality time with the bikes instead of it sitting at the chrome mall.

no kidding... I had them do this to save time as I started a new job.... haha....and since they had to do the side stand recall...(the best laid plans)

Good news is that by some miracle they got it to work yesterday. Depending on who I asked I get different answers as to why.
Best I can tell they plugged it back in and it worked.. what a surprise.. maybe they actually seated the connections this time... and only took them 3 days...

For the record.. the race muffler sounds really good on the Uly!!
