I'm driving out the cul de sac when my buddy flags me down to show me his re-model on the house, I do a quick pull over and park the bike half in the drive way and half out...1/2 way behind his wife's EXCURSION (my mistake).. While sitting in his new family room checking out his new surround sound system his wife comes in and say's I'm so sorry, I'll pay for everything (cringe)...Yup I parked the Uly in the wrong place, we go out to see the mayhem and his 8 yr old daughter is crying!! All I can say is it's My fault!! The first thing I see is my birthday present (Arai Corsair) is sitting in the middle of the street then I see the Uly laying on her right side in the street, my heart starts pounding and I don't want to look, I bend over and pick her up and examine the damamge..WOW the damage is minimal to the bike, hand guard and clutch lever are toast, 1/8" scratch on the very bottom of the fork tube, both foot peg scrappers show a little wear but no other visual damage. Wish I could say the same for my 2 month old Arai...My fault, my fault...Started right up and rides just fine!! Thanks Buell for designing a bike that can take a fall and keep on going with only a few scratches!! FYI: now the right side matches the left, don't ask why... | ||

Funny how on a slick street bike you replace damaged tupperware and repaint ASAP, but minor damage on an Adventure bike is like the red badge of courage... if it results in an interesting story, you let it ride and collect 'em. | ||

Don't ask me how I know this, but I can tell you that a few mods would have resulted in even less damage. 1) Dark Horse Moto Axle Sliders on front and rear. 2) HVMP extra heavy (Long) Handle Bar Ends. 3) "Hacksaw Bob's" shortened/bobbed clutch and brake levers. 4) Mirror arms loose enough to move on impact, but tight enough to stay put while riding at speed. 5) Perches for clutch and brake levers loose enough to move on impact, but tight enough to stay put while riding aggressively.
