Just wanted to say that I've been riding the piss out of my Uly the last few weeks and I'm loving it.........again. I've had a few few issues that I was more than displeased with and they are well documented, but the fact of the matter is I really love riding this bike. 31K and counting............knock on wood.............see you on the road.

I'm jealous. I've only managed to put 16K on mine. But I bet my grin is as big as yours.

Sorry we didn't get together at Willville and take that pic.But I felt the need for a long day of riding & cut out early.
My Wife & I are driving up today(to Willville) so I can ride the X1 home.It still makes me grin too!

I'm lovin' mine also.

28K miles and I've broke a belt and blown a fork seal probablly from doing too many wheelies.

Had it to the drag strip twice and the clutch is still strong.

Trashed it off road on rough, fast gravel. (and some trails and mud, and even snow once). I've bottomed the suspension HARD a couple of times hitting things too hard and jumping it. (I try really hard not to get it airborne, it don't like it much)

Flogged it 100 miles on I-5 in CA in just over an hour. With bags fully loaded with camping gear!!

Wore out about 9 tires (I've lost count) tearing up the pavement on twisties and interstates.

Engine still runs strong.

Man this bike is tough. Some times I'm not very nice to it. (although it gets all scheduled maint. and a heated garage).

It still makes me grin when I jump on it.

AND I still have a year left on the warranty. Gotta love that.

14K and going strong. The bike is my daily commuter, sport, touring, adventurous cruiser. It has been to ten states, has topped 125mph indicated, stands on end with easy and keeps up on a twisted road with any thing short of Rossi. Its slayed the dragon, tamed the snake and run 16's wagon trail to Hungry Mothers. Its been over the mountain ridge on the ledge of a fire road, out past sand dunes and to the hunting post through mud filled ruts. Its been in town, out of the town, down the trail and under the stars camping. Its hauled all three kids, even if just on the drive way and keeps going. It is Webster's definition of a Versatile Motorcycle.

I just completed my first "long" trip on my Uly. Dammif it didn't redefine "long". I had a city-X that I could comfortably ride 350 miles in a day. But this thing I believe would be nearly limitless if it weren't for having to sleep(or go back to work).
After riding 703 miles in a day I was asked to ride the strip at Panama City Thunder Beach. I happily said let's go. I've owned 14 street bikes, Ulysses wins easily in the long distance class.
Fortunately I live in the Smoky Mountain region and get to ride 200 to 500 miles every other weekend or so on some of the best twisted roads in the country. This bike is awesome at every thing.

Agreed 100%. My first trip less than a week into my Ulysses last October was Birmingham to St Louis and Chicago then back. Talk about comfort without sacrificing performance!

I've noticed that folks with Ulys put some serious miles on them. Approaching 20k, in just over a year. Got to catch up with Duck (hmm, can you ride in the winter in Pittsburgh?)

It looks like 14,500 miles by October 1st, when it turn a year old. I plan to ride to Boone NC the following weekend for weekend ride of fun.

It should be good for 1500 miles.

Sometime over this past weekend I suddenly told myself "let it go" regarding the problems.

Just hit 9k+ at 4 months so unfair to a lot of you elsewhere from the Left Coast I'll still be putting on miles while you're stoking fires and shoveling snow or all the other things a lot of you do until Spring. That's just the tradeoff for a lot of the crap we deal with here in CA.

I don't expect to catch Duck or anybody else but I do expect to hit 25-30k by one year old. The bike and I came to terms this past w/e.

This is a unique machine, very much like my brother's BMW K1 in that the more you ask/demand of it the better it responds. It is of excellent design, construction, and quality. Even after 4 months often after a day's ride I park it in the driveway and kick back in my beach chair with a beer and maybe a cigar and just look at it.

I've still got the hots for the BMW F800, but there won't be a Uly traded or sold for it in April '07...

When I brought my City-X home a couple of years ago I parked it in the yard where a couple of friends and a few family members gathered to look at it. The comments that came about were; "are you going to put it in a show room", "bet ya spend more time cleaning than riding",and "it looks like a piece of art work". Well, I rode it 12,000 miles in a year and carried a lot of pride in that machine.
Then I got my Uly. I found that I like the looks of the air box, inst cluster, mirrors, and handle bars....'cause that is mostly all I get to see of it. It looks like it'll be over 20,000 miles on the ODO this year.
When I met Mr Buell this summer I thanked him for the choice of colors on the Ulysses. Not just the orange or black, but the entire bike. Did you ever happen to notice everything matches all the colors of road dirt? So I can ride a thousand mile trip and it still looks awesome when I arrive.
Yep, proud owner.

Nah, not here in eastern North Carolina. If we get snow it only last until noon for the most part. I ride year round too, I got the scratches on the bag from the last time I was on ice. A cold morning of 28°F really wakes you up better than coffee. By afternoon its above 50°F
