Buell just keeps fixing this thing and my dealer never asks a question with warranty issues. I had to wait a long time for the muffler(to replace the badly rusted stock one), so I told the dealer to wait until the kickstand parts came and install them at the same time. I asked them to listen to my loud cooling fan and they ordered me one under warranty ( again, no questions). Just wanted to thank Buell and Harley-Davidson Sport Center in Duluth, Mn. for keeping me a happy customer. Bummer I can't ride it for a while. I just had knee surgery last week. Hope to be back on it soon though. Tim |

Hope your knee heals fast. As a former Duluthian, I remember how gorgeous the riding was this time of year. Hope you can ride before the snow and cold settle in. |

Sorry to hear about the knee. Get better and enjoy the riding this fall. You are lucky to have gotten a muffler warrantied for rust. I have tried twice and been turned down both times for " cosmetic problems are not warrantied on the exhaust" only if it rusts completely through. |

Thanks guys. I'm missing out on a big ride this weekend but I have some things to work on in the garage that don't involve bending/squating. I have the top of an old H-D windshield that looks like the perfect shape for a taller and wider bolt-on Uly windshield. I post pics if it works. Its a good chance to re-wire my grip heaters while the fairing is off. I was surprised about my muffler too, but I'm sure another season would have caused it to rust through. Again, I don't understand the way warranty claims are handled so differently from shop to shop, as the factory seems more than willing to address problems (especially ones brought up in this forum) that appear to affect a large number of bikes. At least I won't loose any sleep worrying about my kickstand bolts snapping off.m Later, Tim |

I had a line of rust on the bottom of my muffler. Wasn't rusted through. Took it to the dealer, no questions, and had it replaced under warranty. They also called me about the sidestand problem, which they took care of under warranty. Dealers can make a world of difference when it comes to customer satisfaction. |

Are they replacing rusted mufflers with a different part or just a new stock muffler that will rust again? |
