Hey guys, I am planning on purchasing an 06 Uly in the next week or so, however before I do I would like to ask you a few questions. First of all is the frame the same as the XB lightening Long ss? Would it be possible to install a lightening subframe and seat on the Uly frame?

Secondly, are there any things I should have the dealer check before I take delivery, such as side stand issues, rear light, fan etc.?

My bike will come with the Buell hard luggage as well as a race kit, are there any other accessories that you recommend I get at the same time. I would like to bundle everything up in the financing. For example pillion backrest pad, covers, etc.?

Are there any protection items that you recommend such as swingarm sliders or crash bars?

Finally are there any great aftermarket buell accessories sites where I can get stuff for the Buell.

Many thanks for you help!!

Congrats on the new bike!

The Ss and Uly frames are the same.
The tail would probably bolt up but there may be suspension clearance issues?

Make sure it either has the recall sidestand or was not part of the recall. Not all Ulys were affected.

If you are going to carry a passenger, get the pad.

I would also put Darkhorse axle sliders on it.
I sell them and of course, give the 10% Badweb discount.

I gotta ask, why install the Lightning seat on the Uly?

I'd make sure the stand recall has been done, if the bike falls within the manufacture date for the recall notice. I don't think there's anything else for the dealer to "fix" unless something breaks.

Before you start financing accessories, ride the bike for a while and decide what you need to make it fit your riding style. You may find that it doesn't need a thing.

Swingarm sliders would probably be a good idea. I've not seen any decent crash bars for the Uly.

Accessories (and where to purchase them) have been discussed in depth here. There's really no one site where you can get it all. Look around.

I don't think the 12X Sidecases or trunk mounts will fit the Ss sub frame. I'd check into it before you pay the extra $$ for the luggage.

Thanks for the info, The only fault that I can see with the design of the uly is the shape of the rear light. It looks odd. I reckon the Lightening seat is better looking.

Daves, Thanks I appreciate that, was wondering if you are willing to sell overseas?

The SS tail section will fit. It has been done by the guys at hillbilly motors I believe, however, your bags will not fit any more. There are no provisions on the SS tail to mount the bags.
