ok - heard all sorts of debate on these - they will fit / wont fit. After shredding a set of sync's using them on forest service roads, and old railway rights of way, I took the plunge. Just so others don't have to hunt all over looking for 1st hand info, here's some pics of MT60RS corsa's on my CityX.

#@!$$*^ SURE html is enabled - too bad it wont let me use standard img tags to insert the photos $@#!&^%$$

160 on the rear, right? Looks OK. I'll will have to see it in person.

Are they radials?

Are they "Z" rated?

How do they compaire with the Sync's on paved twisties?

Good lookin' tires, I'm courious.

Hi Jerry - the rear is a 160/60R17, front is a stock sized 120/70R17. yes they're radials, but not Z rated - V rated ( <130MPH )given that even the high-speed sections around here aren't condusive to much over 100mph, even if you're willing to bend the 55mph speed limits, its not a problem to me.

going from scorpion sync's, to MT60's hasnt been too noticeable on-road: both types of tire use pirellis 'corsa' compound, and are specifically designed for large displacement / high torque supermoto style riding. The MT60's seem to take slightly longer to warm up in the morning...but its also been getting colder overnight so maybe its just an ambient temp thing. Cornering is fine, right to the edges of the tread, no sudden drop in, or any other undesirable behavior and grip is excellent, with no rumble, or judder from the lugs. I ran off the tread on the syncs a few times ( started to low side), but so far the MT60's have just kept on gripping...needless to say the chicken strips were long gone from both sets of tires...

off road, the MT60's eat the syncs for breakfast. deep gravel, loose rocky washes, sand, mud...it just keeps getting better, to the point where I'm starting to do banked turns off of the 'wave' of gravel I can build up ahead of these tires!

I don't have enough miles on yet to say how long they'll last, but they don't seem to be self destructing ( got ~2000km on the rear now, and ~600 on the front) price was a bit cheaper than syncs, but thats going to depend on where you're located, how good a deal you can get from your local vendor.

as I said, probably not for everyone, but for those who use their Buell as an off-road adventure bike, and for touring gravel or hardpack backroads, they're terrific tires.

I had these on my MZ Baghira and they were toast by 2800km and I'm usually pretty easy on my tires. That was on a sub 400lb, 660cc thumper putting out probably 65hp on a good day.

I certainly didn't hate the MT60s, but that kind of mileage is pretty tough to swallow, considering that only half of that mileage was outside of town hooligan riding - the rest was fairly sedate commuting. I'd hate to see how quickly they wear out on a XB12X. On the MZ, I went with some Avon Distanzias , but haven't got enough miles on them yet to figure out how long they're going last.

Dgunther - were they MT60's, or the MT60RS Corsa's?? Although I referred to them as MT60's in the second post, they're not quite the same thing - different internal construction, different compounds, different pages on the Pirelli catologue...for a reason.

like I said - I'm already over 2000km on the rear, so its NOT guessing on my part. ( and to elaborate, I got right around 12,000km on the original scorpion sync rear. wear @ 2000 seems dead on par with that ) As for hooliganism...took me less than a day to eliminate any trace of the chicken strips.

They were the MT60R/RS Corsas. The Pirelli catalog actually specifies them as for bikes such as the KTM Duke and MZ Black Panther.

I can vouch for the MT60R Corsas on their off-road performance. For the size of the "knobbies" they provide amazing performance and traction. I run them on my SuperMoto and they do great both on the road and off.

I never considered them on a Buell but if a 160 will fit then I see no reason why they wouldn't work great on the Uly.

It would be nice if they made a rear that was the exact size tire the Uly's were supposed to run. I would run them anyway if I had a Uly, but I don't ... yet.

chadleys1 - they're narrower, but a higher profile: the outside diameter is within a whisker of 180/50's, so gearing doesnt really change, speedo reads right, etc.

no issues whatsoever with the tires so far, but they allow me to ride off road aggressively enough that my muffler will never be the same!! ( you should se the dents I added this weekend - oy vey!!)
