Egg on my face... maybe.

Today I opened my left case and found that once again my toolbag (small 5x5x7 inch bag with some real tools and my tire kit and an airline bottle of No.7 just in case something really bad breaks...) slid over and dislodged the lower seal, this time almost the full length of the bottom.

Pissed and fed up I started to pull the damn thing out for good.

To my surprise as I rounded the lower corner I met with some real resistance to extraction. I checked very closely and found that the seal was firmly entrenched into its locating groove...

I started replacing the seal, making very sure as I pushed in along the center, that I could feel an actual seating of the molding. When done, I gave a couple test tugs against it. I didn't come out! I went riding some more and when I opened the case the seal was still in place! Not even my tool bag had dislodged it!

I went to the other side and repeated the procedure. I ran around the circumference of each bag making sure everything was snug, nothing pulled out with a decent tug.

Seems Hans at the factory who left his inspection tag in the bag didn't inspect too well...

And I can't believe I fought with these things for four months.

Hopefully this will take care of the problem.

Thanks for sharing. We'll have to check our bags tomorrow before we head out. So far we've been lucky with the seals. Maybe Hans didn't inspect ours

Give Hans a break... he is warming up for Oktoberfest. Too much dark beer at lunch!
